Aggressive ride on remote mountain hwy, state hwy, very low traffic count. 140mi RT, aboot half of it super twisty.

Scraped left peg three times on the return ride. Long long sweepers where you almost feel like you went a circle.

Maybe it's time to either move my ass off the seat a bit, or back off a bit.

It was fun. The bike was way over, but rock solid. Pavement seemed really close to my face.

    Edit:
I heard that sometimes people enter curves with 35mph signs at about 70-75 6th gear, and 25mph signs at 50-55 4th gear if they know the curve. So i hear...

oem suspension set very stiff. It gets a bit spongy on bumps in sharp turns, but it never felt like it was about to slip. PR2's at stock pressure. Good clean roads, very little sand or gravel. I hit one road-colored rock that I didn't see until too late; it was slightly smaller than a fist; bam-bam the bike jumped about an inch out and steady. i stopped to inspect tires, didn't find a mark. PR2's are damn good tires.

This vfr has it's quirks, but it'll turn. I love the no-shift torque on exit. I guess I was doing an aggressive version of The Pace thing, going fast but trying to enter turns perfectly without braking. I hit a few just right.

Perhaps this is the extreme rational limit for public roads.

    Thoughts?

Sounds like a perfect day........... Once in awhile when all seems right it's nice to expand things a bit. Loved hearing about your ride........... Corners, corners, corners.

Leave your Butt in the seat, Move your upper body down and to the inside to keep the bike more upright and lower the combinded center of gravity. Turning your knee into the turn will also force you to rotate your body moe into the turn t further improve your cornering body position. This ill all reduce your bikes lean angle at the same speed and prevent the pegs or other parts from hitting the ground.

I say get your butt off that seat, half a cheek is all you need, and get your upper body low as well (like you are trying to kiss your mirror)

I was scraping the peg feelers at the track constantly, I removed them and was scraping the pegs...and I was even hanging off. I was impressed with the VFR

Yer I put my feelers back on after seeing this VFR low side a few years ago, he is an excellent rider but just run out clearance decking the center stand, check out his cat like reflexes at the end of the slide...

You can lean these things over pretty far but it doesn't happen magically.
I have raised the rear ride height of my Gen 5 by 20mm. This speeds up the steering but more importantly it adds ground clearance.
I have been using BT 016 tires for several years but any "premium" sport tires are fine and it is important to move your butt to the inside of the turn. Be smooth with everything you do on the bike, always.
All this means nothing on a dirty, unfamilier road so my advice is very basic-----practice within your own comfort level and don't put pressure on yourself, just enjoy the ride.
(Nobody would argue that a little coaching at a track day is a bad thing)

Hey! We are freaking neighbors and Syed Leathers have saved my life back when Palm Beach International Raceway - was called MOROSO...

btw, as you know, he is a leather genius, as he altered a jacket that he made for me 15 years ago, to accomodate my some-what-belly.

I scraped my hero-blobs off the foot rests when I lived up north like a mad-man. Now, I am lucky if I scrape a pinkie toe slider, on the street that is...South FL still rocks!!! compared to NJ and all those kick arse roads in upstate NY...

I am oot of CCS but I still take a ysr 50 to a shifter cart track and drag some patella... Cheers...love my viffer as I was telling my wife tonight that its my first wife like Stevie Ray Vaughan first guitar was called. She can accept that...
