I decided to take a day trip and managed to stay (mostly) dry going down the coast. I typically just long touch a spot on the map and hit navigate and go- rerouting as I take random roads that look fun on the way. I ended up with this:

Which went through Norfolk past virginia beach just to the inside of the NC border. This road looked more fun than the typical boring farmland roads so I gave it a shot. The roads are good quality, traffic was moderate (which was good considering it was on a saturday) there are periodic dash straights for passing. Nothing tight, just some big sweepers in the trees. I saw one leo and he was sitting outside some social gathering (I heard somebody mention strawberry festival?) so it could have been stepped up presence for that.

I eventually hit the end of the line here:

Luckily for me- I hadn't noticed that there is a ferry service (free!) that runs off of that point.

I rolled up and found that they were in the process of loading! NO WAIT TIME! woot!

unfortunately, haha it was a 45min ride to less enticing roads so not much to report after that. I had some good conversation with the hog riders about comfort and handling... it was a lost cause.

    Thanks for watching.

This is my old stomping grounds. Looks like a good ride. I could have shown you some pretty fun backroads around the border between Moyock and Chesapeake for sure.

I was stuck in my garage all day putting the bags on my Ninja and changing the oil. Next time hit me up. I know a few good roads in Chesapeake and NE North carolina.

I'm always looking for decent roads in the Hampton Roads area. I've wandered as far north as the top of gloucester peninsula taking back roads, as far south as obx, or day trips that start and end in Hampton but take up across the state and up skyline road.

I haven't been up in that area too much but west of Williamsburg has some decent twists and scenery. My favorite ride is a 300+ mile ride from Elizabeth City to out west of New Boston, VA. some great backroads out there.

Saturday there is a benefit ride starting at Cycle Gear at 1030 and riding down to Turners Honda Elizabeth City. I'll come up for that even though I hate group rides, I'm sure it'll be all highway but I can guide you on the way back north through some decent backroads. There's another VFR buddy of mine that'll be riding also.

It's calling for a chance of rain or storms later in the afternoon but the ride should be over before then (I'm hoping). I'll have the wife with me as well (at least that's the plan).
