Hi to all. Just got my first VFR. A 1986 750. It has been stood for years luckily with no tank on it so drained. Thing is there are no parts for the tank like locking cap, switch and fuel sender. I can source the cap and switch but not the fuel sender and when I do scrapers want stupid money. Question is as im not that bothered if the fuel light comes on when low will a later version sender fit the whole and bolt holes just so i can seal the hole now left in my tank? Ive looked at pictures and they look similar but does anyone know if the dimensions are the same?

I dont know if the senders from newer bike fit. But If you are only looking to just seal the hole, can't you cut up some sheet metal and drill the bolt holes and use that and an oring to cover the hole. Or depending on cost, have a machine shop mill a cover for it in aluminum.

Thanks for reply. Yeah I thought of that but thought cost of professionally having my tank welded (having zero welding time) might outway a salavage sender. I can get an '89 sender for about £15. If that fits the hole and seals it, money talks!
