    Hello VFRWorld!

Having just bought an 1990 VFR750(F?) I've been looking around this site. Previously I've owned an '81 cb750, an '8? NS250F, and an old Accord. I've been riding my NS400R lately which is fun but doing a two+ hour highway trip once a week I wanted something bigger for the trip. I found the above mentioned VFR. What a sweet ride! Other than some buffeting it was just great for the highway. So here's the thing. I've read on VFRWorld's forums that you're not a VFR owner until you have problems with the charging system. Well mine quit on my first real ride on the thing. LOL... The day I bought it! I was stuck on the side of highyway in crazy rush hour for three hours waiting for the guy I bought it from to send a trailer to pick it up (a dealer trade in). Luckily it was a lovely day so if nothing better I had a fun ride and darkened my tan a bit. I hope they get it fixed soon!! I can't wait to ride again!

    Hey Maddbass

Welcome to the WORLD and before you are hassled unceremoniously about pictures of your new ride, please consider yourself so advised. LOL

    :worthless:

Also very sorry to hear about your initiation to the wonderful world of the VFR charging system malfunction. Once it has been fixed, you should be good for many many miles of pure enjoyment. The VFR is a fantastic machine and one that has the effect of spoiling their owners. Most VFR owners seem to remain tremendously loyal to the brand, so after you have taken your bike for the first long ride, rolled on and off the throttle in the twisties without the need to shift up and down, listened longingly to the melodious and basey thrum of the V4 engine, you will no doubt find yourself converted for life.

Enjoy the bike and once again WELCOME.

When you are in the "Reply to Thread" area or the original post area you will see the three choices below "Post Quick Replay", "Go Advanced" or "Cancel"

If you choose "Go Advanced" and scroll down once you have filled in what you want to say then you can go to the area that says "Manage Attachments". This will let you ad files from your computer and upload them to the site. You can also add pictures from a site like "Photobucket" or similar type photo hosting site using the "Insert Image" icon on the tray above the section where you type your post. The Icon looks like a picture frame with tree on it.

Thanks again! I just figured out how to post pics to the member gallery. I'll try that next.
I"M jealous of you out there in the West. I headed east for Ontario two years ago. I was living in Van but have visited Kelowna on my old cb750... what an awesome ride! That was the best riding I've ever had.... the ferry and then the run to Tofino, up to Whistler, into the interior... man!!... IO'm gettin' nostalgic!

You must have figured out the posting thing just as I was typing.

I moved from Calgary to Kelowna back in 1996 and absolutely love the Okanagan Valley. After all, what's not to like. We have fantastic weather year round, winter lasts only a few months (although we don't see the sun much during the winter and that gets a bit ominous at times) and the roads, well........... makes for happy biking.

When I was growing up in Edmonton, we used to vacation at the same resort in Kelowna for about 8 years in a row and my parents always talked about moving here when they retired. Well they moved out in 91 and I had the opportunity to move here in 96 and it seemed like a no brainer. One of my best friends still lives in Calgary and always comments on how much fun it is to ride around Kelowna as there is such a good mix of roads.

My wife and I have always wanted to head east on vacation and see some of the east coast. We have seen some posts on the site with some amazing scenery out east, especially in the maritimes. Maybe one day, we can do a family trip out east with all of us upon our own trusty steed. Since the kids are only 6 and 4 it will be a few years yet, but heh, the time may come.

No wonder you have electrical problems. The fuggen thing is red. White ones last longer and go faster.

Welcome to the site. I don't know what zoom-zoom is talking about. Winter? We ride in the winter regularly here is Chilliwack. Had a school mate who often rode his bike to and from school in the middle of winter in Winnipeg. Dumb ass. What part of Canada?

Ha ha yeah... The white ones do look pretty awesome, probably even better in the snow.

My sincerest apologies Captain Randy. I'm NOT worthy, I'm not worthy. LOL But wait a minute, I do ride during the winter, just not as much as Randy. Nobody rides as much as Randy, and he has the miles on his bike to prove it. LOL

Alright!! The guy I bought my VFR from delivered it yesterday! Yay! I'll admit I was a little worried having never dealt with this person before... he had someone drive three hours to bike the bike up when it broke down.... drove it back to the town I bought it in, replaced the R/R and the battery and drove it back to me! Awesome!!

I took the beast for a ride in our sweltering heat yesterday and as far as I can tell it preformed flawlessly. Toronto Ontario Canada in hot as hell right now. 30 Celsius plus crazy humidity.... our weather forecast has been threatening thunderstorms for the whole week.... and it feels like the rains could come at any time but they don't.

I noticed a lot of heat coming from the bike.... my legs were soaked with sweat and that was during a night ride. I heard the fan click spin on and off a few times but everything seems to work just fine. My NS400R would have just melted into a blob of metal, smoke and plastic in the stop and go city riding in this heat.

Having the R/R fail on my first ride of this bike still has me a little nervous... I've read the "How to fix common regulator/Stator failures" thread and about a thousand others regarding the topic... lol.. today I'm going to consolidate the info and make my choices no how to tackle this problem. The guy who sold me the bike and then replaced the R/R after it's failure told me that it was the original unit. This bike has 74,000km on it so if he's telling the the truth it sounds like it lasted a good long time. I don't want to spend almost four hours on the side of the highyway again.. lol.

A funny aside for anyone interested...
That first ride on my VFR... almost two hours into my ride when the whole thing just quit on the highway at the beginning of Toronto's rush hour I knew I was going to be stuck for a few hours so I had some time to kill. It was a lovely sunny day besides the thousands of cars trickling past me at 10 KM/H... so I figured I'd work on my tan. I got out of my gear, changed into a pair of shorts I had in my bag and laid myself down in the grass. With my t-shirt over my face I fell asleep. I was woken by a stern "hello!".. disorientated I staggered to my feet and was greeted my an OPP officer (that's Ontario's highway patrol). He asked for my driver's licence and having just woken up I handed him my health card. Apparently I seemed pretty suspicious as back up arrived shortly after. I guess they don't find many people napping on the side of the road during rush hour. In the end it was a friendly exchange and I do appreciate them stopping to see if I was ok. In fact almost as soon as I pulled to the side of the road another motorcycling pulled over to check on me. What an awesome guy!! Thanks Peter! I was actually amazed and warmed by the number of bikers who came over to the inside lane to see if I needed a hand. We two wheelers are a pretty awesome bunch!!
