My brother noticed today that my brake light wasn't coming on when I applied the front brake lever. I checked the rear brake lever and the brake light came on. I pulled the front brake switch off and cleaned the connecters and reinstalled the switch. Still no brake light came on. I ordered a new switch hoping that it is only the switch that failed. I would like to hear some feedback from anyone who experienced this problem. I'd appreciate any responses.

Does the light come on if you connect the two wires together at the switch?

Thank you tinkernWstuff for letting me know that it is not uncommon for switch failures. I found a switch for $10 so I figured I'd get it and try a new one.

Too bad you can't get a new one. You could try spraying some OL contact cleaner in there...I had one test ok with a meter, but DOA on the bike, got a new one and problem solved.

    Always trust eBay

Think I paid the same price for one from my local dealer and he had it on the shelf. Only part for my VFR he's ever had on the shelf.

If you connect the wires together and get no light its not the switch. Happened to me once but a wire had come off.

I didn't connect the two wires together. The last time I rode was only a few days since yesterday (6/17/13) and the brake light worked when I pulled front lever. If the new switch doesn't work, I'll try to find a wire that may have come off.
