Have replaced the standard rear shock with a Honda 929 Shock (no modification) and all OK.

Have just flipped the plates to lower the bike and now very bouncy.

    I am 5' 9" & 11 stone.

Shock is on Third notch up, Rebound 3t out. Preload Damping 2t out..

Forks raised 18mm to keep bike level.

Is it flipping the plates? or shock issue? (dogbone bearings OK) Tyres newish & pressure correct

    Any help please

Me always wanting to do this :) but I thought that the 929 shock is a great deal shorter than the vfr shock?
Whenever I hear of anyone putting a 929 shock on a vfr they come up with some sort of spacer or mount to take up the excess space.
I always read that flipping the plates was a no-no as they must be in the same position when the 929 shock is mounted...maybe that is the problem but me not too sure.

if you rotated the linkage plates you will have altered the suspension leverage ratio, which is bad. You can't use the CBR shock without a longer top mount. Do it properly or not at all. The CBR shock will be secondhand, they are not great in the first place & the CBR is lighter than the VFR, so messing with the leverage ratio will produce bad results as you have experienced ! Plus you don't know what life the shock had before you got it !

yes u r correct, have put plates back to norm. (arrows facing forward)
Have adjusted 929 shock to 3 rd notch from bottom and rebound & preload to 2.15 off fully clockwise,
    Now bike is great,
Yes had to fit spacer as 929 is shorter (WHITE SPRING IS THE REQUIRED)
Also now easy to get bike on center stand.

Why do you say the white spring is required?
