I've often thought this would be neat. Another user mentioned that he heard someone had done it but couldn't remember where. A quick google search for "VF500 SV650 engine swap" and various combinations thereof didn't reveal much. Does anyone have information about this kind of thing? I'd love to investigate and possibly do this. Maybe next summer. Maybe earlier!

Would one fit? I picked a V-Twin for the size. I just don't think an inline 4 would fit right and I wouldn't want a VTR1000 engine because of size/weight/poor fuel economy. I ruled out the VFR800 motor because of size and weight also. As for electronics, I'm would take the whole wire harness from the donor bike anyway, so it doesn't matter what manufacturer it is.

This makes as much sense to me as jamming a 350 chev & a T400 in a '32 Ford Tudor... You are taking a Honda, ripping out it's heart and replacing it with something that just doesn't belong... Just my opinion, of course... :)

you can make anything fit if you have the right skills. Not sure how a VF engine would be too heavy or large. I've seen pictures of a vf500 with a 3 cylinder, 100 hp 2 stroke. The bike doubled in power and lost like 25 pounds.

Pretty much anything you do your going to have to metal fab/ frame skills. I don't think your going to find anything you can just make some adapters and bolt it in.

The VFR1200 engine is lighter and smaller than the VFR800 engine.
