Has anyone used a 929 shock without a modified bracket to lower the VFR? How much lower would I end up? Can I drop the triple trees that much to level the bike?

1" lower would be very nice for me.

With out the bracket it is more than 1" for sure
Tink and few other have done the 929 conversion I am sure they will chimp in shortly. You might be able to do a shorter extension and drop the front 1"
Anything more than 1" would be questionable:crazy: Might consider your weight gears, two up......before make any adjustment.

A 929 shock coupled with a bracket length to you specifications would be a great way to lower the bike.

I also believe that a direct swap without the bracket would change the ride height several inches.

I know when I did my conversion it was 39mm added to oem and it droped it a good bit, I didn't like it so I lowered front and inch and it felt good but I ended up raising back up a little and keeping front lowered 1" and it felt great, but different riders have different preferences,so you have to play with it but the conversion Is worth it, I got a power wrench cause my brackets were hard as he** to get off and it's faster and you never know when you might need it, anyways I went with this guys measurements and info VFR800rr: 929 rear shock conversion check out this guys other threads,I've done a couple of them,I wished I would've done the rear cbr subframe mod before I painted my bike ,but I had a guy fabricate look alike bracket tinkerinwstuff made, cause it's better to have 1 whole bracket then just adding a spacer and ordered the bolt from METRICS UNLIMITED just google them, but I think bolt was 10x110 not sure so don't quote me on that, I still got a brand new one if u want it but after your measurments get right you'll have to cut bolt down, anyways good luck with the mod message me if you want bolt and after that go with Jamie Daugherty @ Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification on front end he's the best and it makes a night and day difference, but I wouldn't do 1 without the other, good luck

The more I read about this the more I like it. If I do the shock and lower the bike say 3/4" front and rear I can move the clip-on's up 3/4 " for hiway/touring and drop them down for twisties. Lower seat height, better shock, more upright ergonomics. Win-win-win. Other than less cornering clearance.

It's not a if it's a have to lol, I promise you will be amazed at what this bike can do,I'm still learning and feel like a dumbass sometimes when I can't figure something out, but on the clearance depending on how much you lower the back, I did my front 1" and had some front end wobble recently due too a warped rotor but thought it might be forks off on measurement so I raised them up and I could barely turn the bike, did you check out Jamie Daugherty's site? If you can get his full setup I would it's worth every penny and he goes by your height weight and what kind of riding you do or want to

I think I will look at his suspension upgrades as a winter project. Summer is too short here to not be riding.

Don't forget to shorten the side stand by an appropriate amount when you lower the bike as the drop in height will make the side stand too long. You may also have to watch for clearance issues with the CBR929 shock conversion as the remote reservoir on the shock may come in contact with parts of the frame. Without the spacer that Jamie D. attaches to all his conversions the remote reservoir will sit that much higher. Also of note might be that the upper adjustment screw on the shock body will be that much harder to get to. Would be a good idea to make sure that you can get to all the adjustment screws after the shock is installed.

Thanks. I'm probably best to buy the shock and fit it to make sure everything is accessible before I spend the money to get it re-built.
