So the other day I took my bike out for a more spirited run, and found some really nice country back-roads, and really let it rip. I spent most of the on throttle time a 7K+ RPM and noticed that my right thigh was on fire because the plastic right there was on fire (not literally just really flipping hot) and I could feel it through my leathers. I pop the tail off and took a look but didn't see anything wrong with a visual check. Could this be a heat issue from the engine or is this something electrical? It seemed directly connected with engine load.

Well, the rear exhaust loop is under the seat, kinda close to that side. Make sure you're heat insulation is still there, and well as the rubber air dams that direct air to there.

You're Reg/rec is under you're butt on the right side on the tail.

My right foot gets hot, sometimes.

    Fire is not your friend.

yeah I didnt think it was the rectumfire (pun intended), it seems to have the heat shielding, maybe it would be a good excuse to heat wrap the pipes. Although it could be good on the cold weather days. I'll also look into it further

i got the same issue but on my 6th gen its my right below the right calf. I think its the slip on exhaust that bends funky. Probably gonna heatwrap it and see if that helps.

I just wrapped the rear pipes because I was tired of having my right foot feel on fire.
Makes a big difference I was out in a 90 degree day in city traffic and couldn't feel any heat.

I'm glad this is a fairly common thing according to you guys I just didnt want to assume it was normal and in reality some electrical component was failing or the heat shouldn't be that bad.

yeah i've ridden on some cold days 6F and i felt fine (hands were cold) but here in PA we have cold winters and hot summers so I would rather to have more layers in the winter then to add to the heat in the summer
