I have a 2005 non abs that I bought. Bike has a salvage title so I'm thinking some parts were replaced that have resulted in my abs light being on for no reason. Where is the most convenient place to snip whatever wire powers the light and which color wire would it be? I looked under the left nose fairing for the abs fuse panel and its not there, nor does it have either wheel speed sensor. Thanks in advance, this red light is driving me crazy and I don't really want to tear the cluster apart.

So ruling out obtaining and fitting an instrument cluster from a non-abs VFR, and assuming the bike runs fine with that ABS light on, then the obvious solution would be to (1) carefully note the location of the offending ABS light. (2) remove instrument cluster (3) locate and remove relevant bulb (4) reinstate.

As for access to the instrument cluster. Its probably easiest to remove the windscreen and the 2x instrument panel ends. Once you lift clear the plastic instrument shroud, you should have reasonable access to the rear of the instruments. You may be able to locate and pull the relevant bulb without actually removing the instrument cluster.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

I assumed all the clusters were the same meaning they all had the abs light. If that's true, I have no idea what's telling mine to turn on.

I have known people that have removed the diode from the dash board on other honda bikes, noteably, goldwings. Start by getting the instrument cluster uncovered...Good Luck

FYI the red light stays on until the bike moves more than 6mph. Are you saying it is on all the time as you ride?

Can you post a pic of the cluster lite up? I opened my 05's cluster some time ago for a voltmeter install and while the circuit pathways are on the board for ABS the LED itself was not. Here's two pics of my open cluster, you'll see the empty spot better in the closeup pic, to the left of LED200:

I assume my cluster was replaced because the bike does not have ABS but the light is there and on at all times. A picture wouldn't really work right now as the light is strategically covered.

Yes I would have to agree with your assumption. Non-abs bikes don't have the light so your cluster was replaced. Hey if you ever wanted to try to install the ABS, I have a spare computer and ABS unit. Just kidding, that would be quite a project.

As you can see for Cyborgs pics, the LEDs are buried in the cluster so you will need to fully open the cluster to get access to the nuisance LED.

A nicely trimmed piece of electrical tape seems to be working just fine. :)

    Quote from above^

This could also lead to a cluster-fuck-head ache...
