I almost forgot, the Schuberth C3 is being closed out in favor of the new C3 Pro model and is going for $499 right now! (Competition Accessories, Revzilla). That being said, if I only could have 1 helmet, I think I would choose the GT-Air. I love the Schuberth but I prefer a "solid" full face helmet if I'm doing any sport riding and the GT-Air has a lot of the features of the Schuberth anyway.

Also is the Pin Lock something that snaps on outside or inside the visor? Do you leave it on full time?

For starters, the GT-Air has the drop down sun shield (one of the features I love about the Schuberth), the GT-Air has the Pin-Lock lens/Shield (that's $90+ alone and again what I love about the Schuberth), and the one that thing that really annoys me with the RF-100 is the little lip at the back of the helmet that knocks into the hump on the back of my leathers, the GT-Air doesn't have that. The other thing, although I can't prove it until I get one, the GT-Air is supposed to be more aerodynamic. This means less wind buffeting and noise typically.

Unless it's a tinted lens or is starting to get all scratched up, no need to remove it. Some people hate them, others love and swear by them. I added a tinted version to my RF-1100 and I did get caught after dark once, but I left it on as I didn't have anything to protect the lens or to prevent the little silicone seal from getting dirty. Personally I've had zero problems with mine and prefer to just leave it on until it's time to change it. I've changed the Schuberth once and I have the one I bought for the RF-1100 still on there. It's a great system, as long as it's installed correctly.

Almost forgot, yes, it just snaps in. There are two pins that help hold the lens in place, hence "pin-lock", who knew?

For the most part I'll shop online as there's usually no shipping charges (for high $ items) or sales tax for me if buying out of state. I've purchased locally when I need to have it right away or if I'm not sure about fitment of an item, but predominately it's online. Sometimes you can get great deals in stores, it all depends on timing, I always check the clearance rack first.

Hey loop, have you checked out HJC helmets? That's what I ended up buying. A good friend of mine has the Shoei RF-1100 though and swears by it, so that should be a good choice as well.

Also I bought a pair of Bilt Speed gloves and really like them, they have good hand and wrist protection and are inexpensive. I can't speak for their durability though since I've only had them for a few weeks.

I bought my second HJC helmet for my VFR and have had nothing but great luck! They breathe pretty well and are pretty comfortable! For now this is what I will use for a while until I can swallow paying $400+ for a better brain bucket! I got mine for $165 with tax and am pretty satisfied!

My bike came with 2 Cortech tank bags and they seem pretty nice, gonna try one out tomorrow. My bike also came with a sweet tank bra as well as the sargent seat (VERY NICE upgrade!) and I am REALLY happy with the previous owner for putting those on!

Something else to consider when purchasing a helmet: if your using saddlebags, make sure it fits in saddlebags.

Purchased an AGV Skyline recently. I have to wear glasses to ride & I've found the drop-down sun shield to be a huge benefit. I can keep the the visor open & sun shield down improving air flow in the helmet. Also keeps bugs of my eye glasses. It's hard to imagine riding without a sun shield now.

I'm not trying to talk you out of a Shoei. Just saying a drop down sun shield can be huge benefit.

I would do that. Shoei makes safe, comfortable, light weight helmet. That model is a dandy. BTW I dont work for Shoei.

Definitely a good deal, new and when they first came out the RF-1100 were at least $379! The link I posted yesterday was for a Shoei Qwest blowout these were the Airfoil, Ethereal and Nueron models at $249.99 (new)
