So i was able to put 400 miles on the bike this weekend and after riding for a couple hrs my shoulders get really cramped.. Anyone else experience this? what can i do?
There's not much you can do. If you think your leaning too far forward you can convert from clipons to traditional handlebars and move them a couple inches closer to you. Your limited by the throttle cables, brake lines, etc... To move them more, is a big project, but doable. I plan to swap to some much taller 7/8 bars myself so I can sit more upright.
Im not sure what it is exactly but i get really cramped in my upper back right at the base of my neck between my shoulders. I moved the bars out and raised them up a 3/4 inch by removing the little snap rings, we will see where it goes. It is disappointing b/c i was hoping for a more comfortable ride compared to my DR, with that bike my ass hurt and with this vf i have this problem, i think this little change might help a bit though. Thanks for the reply.
Depends on your riding position. What is your height and weight? Exercise/strength training at the gym increasing muscle mass and flexibility can do wonders. You may want to have someone take a picture of you and evaluate how your riding position looks. You should have a slight "leaning forward" posture (not too extreme where you look like your are being stretched out to dry), and griping the tank with your knees. The correct posture and gear attire should look like this: Just messin' boss. See below for some examples. Like I said, a picture of you on your bike (feet on pegs) in your normal riding position, and your height would help make a better assessment. Your bike might need some adjustments, and/or your body position in order to help you out. You would be surprised how much little changes can affect your comfort, along with exercise/strength training. That said, if you are not used to riding a long day of riding like 400 miles then your body might not be used to it....and it is normal to be sore. You should take regular breaks, and stretch when you do. Yeah, yeah, it might sound silly, but it can and does help. Good luck.
