I imagine that a number of you have faced this issue in the past but I figured that I would post it up anyway to get some feedback.

Yesterday evening I found myself unsupervised for about half an hour so I decided to get out my saddle bags, which I purchased last year, with the intention of installing the mounting brackets on my 07. Well the installation itself is pretty straight forward but I'm finding that the brackets don't allow sufficient space for my Two Brothers Stash exhaust. They make pretty hard contact with the alloy cans. Enough that I would expect to see severe damage to the cans in a very short time. So I think I need to do some modifications to either space the brackets outboard a half inch or so, or move the cans closer together, kind of a "pipe tuck".

At this point I'm open to input and your collective experiences.

Apologies for not having pictures but time was tight.

I had the same issue with my Scorpions. A small bit of bending of the exhaust did the trick, but i think they still tap on each other once in a while.

I only have one picture that I can access at work. It isn't the best but you can kind of see that the bracket touches the side of the pipe on the outside. Since taking this picture, I removed the straps holding the pipes and bent them so it would hold the pipe away from the bracket and against the rear fender. It's worked ok for the RH pipe (the functional one) but the LH one (the stash) still rubs a bit. I would say that I have about a quarter of an inch clearance on the right and maybe one sixteenth on the left.

I love the bags and decided that I will live with whatever damage occurs to the pipe as the pros outweigh the cons.

Even though they are the wrong colour, I love em!!!! We went out for a diner ride last night and it was so nice to put the helmets in the bags instead of carrying them in the restaurant.

if I could make a suggestion for the left one (the stash)... maybe go to a HVAC supplier local to you and ask them if they have copper pipe insulation for refrigeration lines. You can use that to cover up the bracket metal rubbing against the muffler can and use zip-ties to keep the insulation in place. from what i remember in Trade school that insulation is either a foam or styrofoam material. either way they are black and blend in.

    Interesting idea.
I'm thinking that a short piece of rubber fuel line would work good too as it is thin and black so you wouldn't see it. The pipe insulation is squishy foam and it is pretty thick so it may cause interference when installing the saddle bag.
