Headstock bearings 5th gen

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for replacement head bearings? or is oem the way to go.
the dealer I bought the bike from has agreed to replace them under warranty so I hope he uses good parts.

 

I've seen quite a few use the tapered bearings from All Balls Racing ( http://GoAllBalls.com ). I actually bought a set but have yet to install them. Part#22-1020. Note that they do require less torque than the OEM/Standard ball bearings.

 

If the dealer is doing it, have him order and install the steering head parts for a 1983 VF750F. That is the kit I put on my '99.

 

Definitely go with the tapered bearings. However, be VERY mindful of the torque you put on the nut...one member who shall remain nameless (no not me) tightened his too tightly and actually broke the bearing lands inside the steering head.

That made for a very interesting (frustrating) repair...
