    Hello all!

So I have posted every little here but it seem like this forum is what I read every night before bed, so thank you for all your help that you guys have been providing me. Now its time for me to steep out of my comfort zone and ask a few questions.

I have been restoring a 86 VF500 for the last... 2 years now? (wow, didn't even noticed its been that long) but anyways, I have taken this bike from a pile of garbage to what I consider near good working order. I have recently rebuilt the carbs (for the 4th time) and I now have the bike running well, and I'm pulling around 54 mpg. I have noticed this hose hundreds of times and tried to figure out what it is but can't seem to come up with an anwser. So I thought I would see if our resident experts here could lend me a hand on identifying this curious conduit.

This hose runs from the bottom middle of the carbs. I believe its a vacuum hose but I don't know where it goes. There are no vacant nipples on the bottom of the air-filter plate and unfortunately this bike was in such bad shape when I got it that I don't have a reference point to work from.

And here's just a shot of the bike for fun!

I know its not that pretty at the moment but I'm still working on her.

It is the float bowl vent, needs to be open to atmosphere.

Sweet! Does it need to be hooked up to anything or just left out there hanging as is?

I salvaged an '86 VF500 Interceptor last year, that hose was connected to the nipple on the bottom of the airbox.

As an aside, I'd recommend that you put hose clips on the fuel lines after the filters & where they connect to the carbs, would not be nice if one came off whilst the bike was running !
