Here's one: get yourself a factory manual.

I have a similar project. Just ordered new cam chain tensioner and a few other parts. Luckily i work in a motorcycle shop so i get free used parts and trade price for new parts!

Try soaking it for a couple days with PB Blaster and try again with an impact if you have access to one.

+100 on the heat. It's amazing what that will do to rusted, stuck or glued on fasteners.

Ok ill try that when I get home.

Does anyone have the intake base? It's the part of the intake that bolts directly on top of the carburators. Come to think of it I need the o rings too.

on the swing arm bolt, I've had a couple that not even heat would budge. The Only thing that worked was heat with a brass drift. I have no idea why brass, but it's saved me more than once on a stuck swing arm bolt.

Brass because it's softer. So the heat, plus whailing on it a bit to help break loose the rust will aid in removing stubborn stuck fasteners without boogering them up beyond recognition. If you give it hell enough it can still deform tho, even with brass, especially if it's allready hot.

I think the softer brass doesn't bounce off the bolt like steel does, not buggering it up is just an added benefit.

and yes they can be a PIA, I just pulled a bike apart and it took 2 days to get the pivot bolt out.

Well, that's massivly unfortunate, maybe you can score another parts bike/frame in good shape and continue on with your project, with many extra parts too.

    Dont give up so easily.

I have naked frames that need homes. Cheap, and they come with front axles. Shipping from Sacramento. PM me for more info.

Well the reason why this is the funk straw is that I have to put a lot of money in it already and when I found out I needed a frame on top of everything else, i considered it just too much money. I found another newer vfr I am going to pursue for less than what I'd have to put into this one. I really do appreciate the offer though
