I hope to ride in Rolling Thunder this year, been wanting to do so for a number of years -- I will be traveling from Winston-Salem, NC area north to DC on Friday May 26, 2013. I have not paired up with a riding group yet, but would welcome some fellow VFR riders to join for the experience.

    peace, everybody - Chris

My crew and I will be riding Rolling Thunder. Most likely leaving with a large group from Battleys in Gaithersburg MD in the "not going all the way to the pentagon" group. Hope to see ya there Pimp Daddy Chris!

I'll be going this year. Riding from Warrenton VA. Will be joining a mixed group (mostly Harleys), I'm the only VFR
We'll be parking right where 66 dumps into Constitution ave. Right where the Paraders rev up and gas it (nice spot I think).

I know the feeling, most of the time I'm the only VFR too, sometimes the only Honda in sight too!!

So. Just what is the Rolling Thunder ride to Washington. Is it an organized annual ride of some sort. A fund raiser or Memorial Ride or a protest? Curious.

But what is the scoop on that ride?

(Never mind. I looked it up and cleaned up my response out of respect for the cause.)

Seems they are reported to be active in Canada as well but I have never heard of that. Nor have i heard of a ride for such cause. Apparently the original cause was for MIA's from the Vietnam war but has expanded to be advocated for veteran's rights and benefits.

This is a concern here in Canada. We have had hundreds who have been killed and severely wounded over in Afghanistan and they have been treated with incredible shame from the Federal Government. Survivors and veterans benefits have been eroded a lot recently. And to obtain any benefits has been reported as a fight taken on by the individual vet or his/her surviving family. Yet the platinum pensions our federally elected people get after only serving in office for 8 years I think, over $100K and never gets attacked or cut. It is just a pitiful shame.

Maybe it is time for us here to arrange our own rides for the same cause.
