Hello fellow VFR riders! I would like to say hello as a new VFRworld member. I am from Melbourne, Australia and I am a proud owner of a yellow 1998 VFR800FiW. This is actually my second 5th gen VFR800 - I owned a red-and-white anniversary model in 2000-2002 and decided to get another 5th gen last year when looking to return to motorcycling after a break. I simply couldn't find anything comparable in what's being offered new these days, and I think this is the right time to buy a used 5th gen - prices are lower than ever, and there are plenty of low km models on offer. The one I bought had only done 30000km.

It's great to see the VFR community alive and kicking in this forum. I hope to see some of you on the road in AU sometime. Cheers!

The bike has had a full suspension revalve and setup thanks to Promecha, but otherwise I've kept it as stock as possible. I may get my hands on a Staintune muffler at some stage to open up the sound but still undecided about hi-rise vs regular position - there's a Ventura rack on it now and you can't use a hi-rise with the current mounts.

Fristly welcome to the MadHouse and congratulations on your latest find!

Kudos for posting up with a photo of that stunning 5th Gen.

As for changing it, you may want to give it some miles, just to get a baseline to work from, before deciding to tweek it. That way you can prioritise your spend on the essentials first, especially if you find that seat has to go!

    Take care

Thanks SkiMad, yes the idea of a Sargents seat is appealing and it's more or less the same coin as a muffler. It's coming up to winter in Australia and I'm hoping to do some touring around July-August, so I may have to add heated grips to the wishlist as well. A VFRness and new reg/rec is on order (for peace of mind). I also have a Ducati Monster 1000 which might look sexier, but I have to say the VFR is, hands-down, the better bike in all other respects.
