Hello everyone. In 2 and a half hours I will be the new owner to a 1986 honda vfr700. Im new to the street legal motircycles but have ridden dirt bikes an atvs every so often. Im buying a project to keep me busy on my off time. When I say project I mean project. Its in pieces. Hope I can get some insight and tips from some friendly people on here!

First off a big welcome to the MadHouse!

As you have not yet taken delivery of your 700(pile of bits), we will allow you 24hrs to take and post pictures ... before people start ....

    :worthless:

From your description, it sounds like you are taking on something of a challenge. One weird thing about projects is, that it seems people are so keen to tear into their project, that they once it is all sorted, they later regret that they did not take enough photos of what they started out with. I have seen a few back from the grave projects where the results are truly stunning, but without decent "before" pictures, people can't really comprehend how bad things were to start with.

    Have fun.

Have tank and any bodywork ?? If not, that bike's going to be more expensive to get back on the road than it would be to pick up something nice and running off CL.

Looks like a parts bike to me, probably stolen or crashed at some point. Either part it out or spend a ridiculous amount of time and money. If titled, the frame might be worth about $150, engine about $400-$500, forks, wheels, etc.

Do a compression test to see if the engine is healthy.
