    Hi all,

New member/owner here, just picked up an '07 RWB with 3350 miles 4/19. So far I'm amazed with the bike. Just started riding in '06 after buying a Kawasaki Ninja 500R, put just shy of 18k miles on (and lots of mods trying to make her more comfortable) before deciding to upgrade.

I've lusted after a VFR for years, although I was distracted by the sparkling looks of some Duc's and BMW's I managed to talk myself out of them until deciding it was time to move on. Five days on craigslist moved my Ninja while leaving an empty feeling inside me, and a quick internet search later found a RWB with light mods (2bros VALE, heli-bars, ZG double bubble, 45/14 sprockets) listed on this site for a paltry $6250. After contacting Tom and having one of the best online communication sessions over the course of about two weeks, we worked out a time for me to drive north to see her in person. After a quick review, confirming everything I was told, and not finding anything out of sorts I didn't even see any point in haggling. It was an honest bike, for an honest price.

I look forward to picking your brains for info, already digging through threads with lots of ideas for my new ride.

Since this type of thread is worthless w/o pics:

Coming from a 500, this bike is amazing! Smooth, powerful, and much more comfortable. I do already have a question though... I rode to work the other day with a spirited ride home on some nice country backroads. After walking my pre-ride check the following morning I found this:

Bike has a competition works fender eliminator, and it appears the plate smacked into the rear tire? There's 5" of clearance between the tire and plate (at rest), and I didn't hit any rough roads that IMO would have the suspension compress enough have this happen, unless it's a lot softer and has more travel than I give it credit for. I sure didn't feel anything on the ride, and I don't see any markings on the tire.

    Thoughts?

    Dan

:welcome: I see you've allready farmiliarzed yourself with the pics or it dosen't exist rules round here!!! As for the tag hitting the tire, can you relocate the tag bracket closer to the end of the pipes where the stock one would come out at? It's mounted basically over the tallest point of the tire thereby maximizing the chances of it hitting at the moment. Otherwise you could allways bend the bracket up a couple inches to give you more clearance and it would also relocate the bottom edge of the tag thereby giving you even greater clearance.

Thanks for the welcomes. Good to finally be here. I'm afraid I'll find lots of useful posts to give me ideas on adding to the bike (and depleteing my wallet). I'm already on the search for a Sargent, PC-V, etc.

It doesn't look like I can move it any more rearward, I did "tweak" the bracket up & out just a touch with brute force to gain a little more clearance, but now I only have about 1/4" clearance between the top corners of the plate and the exhaust cans. I'm hoping that will be enough, the crazy part to me was not feeling/hearing it. I do kinda like the symetrical bend tho :)

First of all, congratulations on the new bike. At 3350 miles, you're barely broken in. The RWB definitely turns heads.

I used to have a CW fender eliminator on my bike and I did not have this problem. In your 3rd picture, I don't remember my plate hanging as low as yours is. You may want to double check things there.

Also, here is a thread for updates that I did to my bike that include the PCV and the seat you're looking at.

Welcome to the site. The more I see these RWBs the more I want one. To be quite honest with you, when they first came out, I didn't like them but they sure do grow on you. But I am going to have to wait until mine packs it in before I get a new one. It only has about 1,500 miles or so on the odo. Mind you that is the second time around.

If you fabricate a bracket extension to move your plate closer to the rear of the bike, I don't think you will have to move it far back to make a lot more room between the plate and the tire.

Good suggestion Randy, sounds most simple and effective. 101,500 miles?? I hope this bike lasts so long, that's crazy.

Jack, sorry to read of your troubles. Hope you get that clutch worked out soon.

I've already found a used Sargent on ebay, so it looks to be the first change. Second mod will probably be the fan mod. I've been pushing 115-122* and it's not even been hot around here yet.

No matter how great a vehicle might appear, it's always a good idea to check the little things...

Welcome to the forum and the the 6th gen militia as well. Need to get your registration in proto to secure you an official number and badge.

Very nice 07 you have there and I see you have found your first mod already. Get the mouse house out of there and you should see some improved air flow! Since they have been in there, have a look down between the cylinders, under the throttle bodies. They like it down there too!
