Can't you just use the old dust seals?

At Honda of Rockville md now. They are going to try and re-use the old seals.

95$ to install isn't terrible I suppose. It would have been 45 if I could've taken the wheel off myself but I can't do it without a stand.

Just wanted to thank everyone who replied and offered assistance and ideas, what a great brotherhood we've got here. I owe you all big time.

The bearings were obtained from applied industrial technology in Alexandria VA. for 17 each. Kymco brand Japanese made.

If you're bored and hungry, go over to Mike and Sons for a sub. It's in a lil hole next to 7-11.

Are you saying that the "stealership" charged you $34 for a pair of bearings?

Sounds like he got the bearings from a supplier. The stealership got him for fifty bucks to pull his front wheel and re-install it. Just think, we have their name now and it will be on the net forever..

This unfortunate episode has me thinking it's time to change mine on the 00. Are they pressed in or will they slide out without much work?

They are pressed in. If you don't have a slide hammer type bearing puller be prepared to do some major cursing while banging the bearing out from the opposite side using a hammer and drift. I've got a bearing puller so let me know if you need help I'm up near Alpharetta/Johns Creek area. It will only cost you one Sweetwater IPA and 6 wings from Taco Mac

Check the three sizes given with a bearing supply specialist, maybe not the one you got the fronts from though. They seemed a bit expensive. Never let a bearing shop know you are desperate, the price can go up several hundred percent as a result.

As for the rear bearings, All Balls has worked fine for my 500, scored a set on fleabay cheap. I would try to save the existing seals as the ones in the kit did not fit tight enough but otherwise  On the other side of things my All Balls fork seal kit for my 800 fits perfectly so YMMV. As for the "pressed in" factor of the bearings, yes, they are "pressed in", technically speaking. A long flathead screwdriver will knock them out in five minutes and a decent bearing driver set will knock them back in just as quickly if not faster. This is all assuming you're a wee bit handy with a wrench though.
