its ok - the brown wires and the black and red are ign switch

the otherblack and red are the live to the ign relay and a neg to the cdi

this bike must be the easiest thing to start without a key

i havent got the doing the loom yet sorry mate, ive been very busy painting and such.
i dont think you should have taken the wheels apart though it does say stamped on the wheel "DO NOT DISASSEMBLE" i just cleaned and polished mine and they came up tidy.

    what can i say...im a rebel

no, seriously though, i only want the hubs the rest of the wheel went in the bin. ill be changing them to 17 inch front and back and lacing them.

the thing with honda's comstar wheels, is they didnt really catch on, and look dated.
ironically, Honda came up with the comstar in an attempt to move away from laced wheels which were what everyone was using at the time. they changed the design a few times to keep them appealing, the great thing to take advantage of, is that they do come appart. Honda used some odd shaped bolts to stop tampering, but an 11mm socket and a hammer fits overthe nut and you can easy remove them. the other end are rivetts and drill out easy as its soft alloy.
the thing is they are now over 25years old and as such most have had hard life, some have become dangerous anyway.

the fact they bolt together leaves you with a really good surface area to bolt to - two metal rings bolted to the hub with the outer edge of that ring drilled to thread the spokes to and a new rim and you have a laced wheel

    Hi there,

I have seen a couple of posts here where folks have offered to upload a VF400 manual. I have just bought a running and MOT'd Y-reg 400FD and am going to (hopefully) restore it to stock. Luckily difficult items seem to be in good order and it is mostly cosmetic. I used to own one of these 20 years ago, but got rid due to worries over maintenance at the time as I had little money / time. One of my first jobs looks like sorting out front and rear inboard brakes. I need some form of manual to have a go at this. Can anyone help?

Hi there. Thanks for that. Thought about using a CBX one, but was struggling to find that in the threads also. Since then I have found a thread which had a working link right at the very end. Now have a workshop manual if it is a little fuzzy. Not a particularly good PDF, but its useable and beggars can't be choosers.
