    Hi guys,
A few weeks ago my 5gen started to behave funny.
It stalled a few times -usually after coming fast to a traffic light and downshifting to 2nd or 1st...
Then I noticed the throttle wasn't smooth anymore and had trouble passing 5-6K rpm...
Suspected some dirt in the injection because I had gone very low on the gas a week before.
Sometimes I felt it was running on 3 cylinders...

First I used injector cleaner, and changed the spark plugs and wires.
Then replaced the gas pump. (Don't think it had been changed ever -but looks like a previous owner fiddled with it) The tank looks pretty clean inside.
After this, the bike is not stalling anymore and the throttle seems to be smoother; but not even close to normal.

    Any suggestions?
Would the O2 sensor be next thing to check?

O2 sensors on these only work in the top 3 gears at steady revs i.e. when cruising so NO they are NOT the problem. The TPS (throttle position sensor) may be faulty. Check the service manual for instructions on how to test it. If you have a PC3 then connect a laptop & check it on the PC software. The other things to check are the EFI sensors & the 4 vacuum balance pipes on either side of the airbox are still connected to their Stubbs on the airbox !

Looks like the culprit is the inside of the fuel tank.
A previous owner had it coated, and it is peeling off.
I have been quoted around U$300 for chemical wash and repaint of the exterior.

I'll look around in ebay and CL but would like to ask if someone here has an used tank for sale.
Also, what is the recommended finish -if any- for the inside of the tank?

    Cheers
