Seeing how us sport touring guys like rides that end in xxx or even xxxx digits, The one thing lacking was comforting grips! So I hopped on good old McMaster Carr and found some closed cell ribbed foam tube. This stuff is rated for 200 degrees, if you are like me, and have heated grips no worries with this stuff turning to mush. I have about 200 miles on them so for darting around town and quick expressway trips and they seem to be holding up pretty well.

The trick to putting these and any grips on is to use compressed air just start the end of the grip on the bar and cup the air nozzle around the the inner surface of the rubber grip and the foam grip, just wiggle and it will slowly slide over, no dish soap or gimmick grease.

The larger diameter of the grip and the 3/8" cushion really makes a difference!

    Ride safe!

Excellent tip on using air to install them. I already had foam grip covers but have been unable to put them back on since installing my oxford heated grips. Worked like a charm. Thanks.

Good tip char! I just recently put on some cheapo foam slip overs and what a difference! Like going from holding a pencil to a baseball bat.

Which grips did you get? The course surface contoured grips? I'm thinking to get a set as the stock grips are a little skinny for my big hands.

I used 9754k24 ribbed close cell tube for 1.25 in o.d. but I am running heaters under my stock sidi grips. They last about 1500 miles but you get 60 inches of material for 20 bucks.

The 1 inch should fit, your bed bet is to measure, the diameter. The material expands a bit but it will rip if you stretch it to far.

I got some of this stuff. It arrived the next day although the shipping price was not mentioned until well after the transaction. $17 for the foam, and nearly that to ship. F'ing ridiculous.
