Guys - I'm really hot on the Gen 6 Pearl White viffers, and I found one in excellent condition that has ABS and luggage:

    Honda 2006 Interceptor® 800 ABS

The price is a little high. The mileage is 18K+, and I'm waiting to hear if the valve adjustment was completed. What's a fair price for this bike? I'm planning to use this for commuting and occasional multi-day touring trips. What do you like/dislike about the mods given my intended use? Will the aftermarket Ohlins shock make the ride stiffer?

Also, from this picture, can someone tell me whether the handlebars are in the stock position or if risers have been installed? I prefer a more-upright position than the stock VFR, so I may do risers, pegs and a cushier seat. Thanks!

That price isn't high at all....not for everything that bike has. The luggage and the Ohlins are valuable stuff all by themselves.
I have the adjustable Pazzo levers on my VFR....those are worth at LEAST $1500.....
No, seriously; I would not personally balk at that price.

I agree with what 2007VFR has said, the price looks more than fair for a bike with all those options. Up here in Canada, at least where I live, a bike equipped with those parts and that year would have a price similar of even higher. The Ohlins shock, hard bags and exhaust would likely cost more than a couple grand if you had to add them separately and the ohlins shock won't really make the ride stiffer, instead it will allow you more adjustability with the rear suspension. The VFR has been said to be a bit soft, shall we say, in the rear end so an upgraded rear shock like the Ohlins will make the bike perform better.

The handlebars also look to be the stock clip-ons. If you are looking for a more comfortable seat I might suggest either the Sergeant seat or maybe having a local upholstery shop recover and shape the seat to fit your personal requirements.

Good luck with the purchase and NICE SCORE.

I second the fair price. Especially from a dealer and with the mods on it. If you have the cash i would hurry down there and get. But always offer less. I would probably start around 6300 and let them bring you up. But even if they wont budge its still worth it. 18k is just getting broken in on these bikes. When you are out riding in the country or blasting up palomar what you paid for it will be the last thing on your mind. Enjoy

Guys - Thanks for all the responses! I'm glad to hear that the general consensus is that these are quality mods. I'll start the negotiation process soon!

I'm on the east coast and won't have a chance to look at the bike in person. Are there any kind souls in the San Diego area that could take a look for me? Thanks!

Ah but Scuba, we thought it was just "But a flesh wound". Shoulder shouldn't keep you from going to look at a bike for another poor member in need. LOL. I guess that would be similar to rubbing salt in an open wound eh. Can't ride your bike so looking at one for someone else would be like torture.:boink:

frame sliders (they cut up the fairings to install those) and luggage, interesting combination. personally, i wouldnt pay that much for it. but thats just me. you should look at the kelly blue book. thats about what i paid for my 07 anniversary edition with 3200 miles on it, always garaged immaculate condition, and that was full retail at the time (fathers day 2012) according to kelly blue book. granted, mine was bone stock without luggage, but it did include a $600 shoei helmet and a couple nice jackets. and all those accessories are now used accessories, not new anymore. and you gotta figure shipping into the cost of that bike. coast to coast... maybe a couple g's for a reputable shipper with an enclosed rig. probably at least a grand for the lowest bidder, though i wouldnt ever recomend using the lowest bidder to ship a bike

KBB on that bike w/ABS is $6105. Consider the 3 main add-ons it has: Two Bros, luggage, and an Ohlins shock. Even if you figure a 50% value of the original cost on those 3 items alone, not even considering the other stuff it has, $6800 is a good price.
You do have to cut the plastic for the frame sliders though, as was mentioned earlier. I'd wanna make sure whoever did that did a good job and made it look nice. IN the pictures it looks fine but in person who knows.
And it's also true that shipping will be a killer. Pick a reputable shipper, do some research on that, because some of the low-cost outfits are just plain abusive.

I thought you were local. I personnaly wouldnt buy a bike unless i could see it myself. It looks like a great bike with a really good price but the 6th gen is not a rarebike. So after adding the shipping cost i would think you could find a reallynice one closer to home. Im sure someone could go look at it for you from here and will be honest about the condition but i have to beleive a good deal has to be closer to you. Have you been checking craigslist in your area?

the problem with buying a vfr of any generation is that there just arent many of them for sale. the sixth gen is not rare by any means but people that own them seem to hold on to them. and thats true of any vfr. they are just great bikes with a strong cult like following. they are out there but you have to look. and when you find one that feels right then maybe you should buy it as long as your comfortable with the price. that bike is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it! but youve gotta look for the bad as well as the good. my daddy taught me that a good deal is when both buyer and seller walk away happy.
