New VFR1200F DCT owner here. Went from a line of naked bikes (excluding my Ninja 250 when i started) and this is my first fared bike. Also my first auto trans. Had an ER-6N before this bike and just got it a few days ago. Rode with a friend who just bought his VFR1200F (manual) a couple days ago on my ER6 and quickly realized i needed to upgrade and ended up with the same bike but DCT (cuz i'm lazy around town). Call me crazy cuz i bought this bike without even test riding it and i just loved the look and design and how it felt to sit on it. First Liter bike and I LOVE IT! Smiled all the way home from the dealer in the rain.

Will do as soon as i get around to washing her. I picked up all sorts of dirt and mud from the rain riding. Today is the first dray day in 3 days since i got her so i'm gonna get her all dusty again anyway haha. I'm at 100miles on her. OMG i want to take her up above 5K but will have to wait another 500miles.

Congratulations on the new bike and WELCOME to the World. As Skidmad mentioned, don't forget to post up the pics of the new ride. Even if the bike is covered in rain that's OK, as long as your bike is not covered by a tarp in the garage awaiting the passing of a strange white crystalline substance that seems to be lingering in the great white north.

Thankfully, my particular geographic location of the great white northern land known as Canada is free of the fluffy white stuff and riding season is well on it's way. There are those in the northern US and eastern Canada though who might be tempted to say YOU SUCK for being able to pilot your new ride home without the addition of snow tires. LOL, Just sayin........................

May YOUR riding be glorious, the corner's beckoning, the open straights free of traffic, the tires stuck to the road like chewing gum in the carpet (what can I say, KIDS!!!!), and may the open road call to you like a voice from within. Keep her shiny side up and ride safe.

Hey Zoom-Zoom - You're out riding on clear roads already? What's up with this crazy weather - I rather thought most of Canada would still be buried in snow ... This is what my bike looked like this morning!

Even when you work/live in an Alpine ski resort, by April you start wishing the Spring would hurry up, there are all those amazing alpine passes to explore...

Yeah, the weather in southern BC is fairly mild and though we do get snow during the winter, we generally see a lot of the fluffy stuff. The riding season, at least here in Kelowna, generally lasts from mid march through until late October or early November. There have been a number of years that I was able to ride any and every month but for the most part I don't ride during December thru February due to snow. Vancouver, on the west coast (and home to another board member named Randy) is very much like the northwestern areas of the US like Oregon, where they do get some snow during the winter but it usually does not last more than a day or two.

I used to live in Calgary, Alberta (600 km's east and slightly North of Kelowna, BC) and the winter there can start in September and last until May. I was talking to a friend in Calgary just this morning and they still had snow on the ground as of Sunday and temps were still below 0*C (32*F). There was one year in Calgary, just after I turned 18, when it snowed in the last week of August. It only lasted for a couple of hours but it sure was a sight let me tell you.

The prairie provinces in Canada like Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have really seen a long and cold winter this year, with an abnormally high amount of snow. My buddy Doug in Calgary has one of my older bikes (a 1985 VF1000F) and he is hoping to be able to ride within the next month or so, but he is currently not holding his breath.

    Hey Slowride

Not sure where you are in Oregon but a number of years back I spent a couple weeks in Ocean Shores, Washington (on the very northern tip of Greys Harbor) with a good friend of mine and we toured around a bit along the Oregon coast. Talk about some amazing scenery. I have not had the chance to get down there since I got married but my wife has suggested that we go on a holiday and go for a ride down the Oregon coast some time. If we ever get the chance, I'll have to look you up and see if you can show us some of the local scenery if you know what I mean.

Hey i'd love to show you guys around but the problem is i'm a Transplant from NY.. Hahahahah but i moved over her because of that reason you stated. It is beautiful here year round. Green grass year round and it can get cold but never down to the teens (F that is). But i do love the route through Astoria and down the coast. I do that with friends about once a year. Just alot of places to stop off down the coast and it's fun.

That's probably the best reason to show someone else around your "New" neck of the woods. If you were to get lost you have a perfect excuse and no one would ever care. Some of the best rides I have ever been on involved someone in the group leading the rest of us to middle of god knows where and there being either an excellent restaurant or some amazing sight that you never would have found if you had been looking for it. When my buddy Doug and I were down there touring the coast we found this great road around the Lake Quinault National Park that was truly amazing. I doubt I could find the road again if I tried but it was reasonably twisty with the trees growing over the road in a number of places and it formed this really cool canopy in some places. When we started riding earlyu one morning it had been raining and cool only hours before, and then the sun came out late morning and started to come streaming through the trees in areas and highlighted the steam coming off the ground as it warmed up and the fog lifted. The sun peaking through the trees created these areas that looked like pipes of light for lack of a better term as it hit the low fog and the steam in the trees. The scenery was absolutley stunning and the road, though a little slick in places, was amazing.

Says the guy having anal sex with a metal rendition of some per-historic animal in the desert.

Welcome to the site friend. Post-em up, dirty or not. You can always re-post once you have cleaned your puppy up. A dirty bike only means that it gets ridden regardless.
