I have a 1998 vfr800 with 19,000 mile. I am the new owner and have gone through the bike replacing a lot of stuff, brakes, coolant, oil, sprockets, chain, exhaust etc. I am returning to bike to orginal or better condition. I will include pictures when done.

That stated...I was looking to replace the fork fluid and beef up the fork because I weight (fat old guy) about 215lbs and was told that the front fork was not calibrated for a guy that heavy....thoughts please?
Also in the shop manual I cannot find a drain hole or screw in the fork, did I miss something or did honda not put one in? If so do I have to dissaemble the entire fork to change fluid?

    Thanks for the help guys.

Lol havent had a new bike in a while huh? I think they stopped putting the drain screws in forks back in the 70s maybe early 80s. But i hear you it use to be so easy pull the drain screws, pump the forks and fill it with fresh fluid. Maybe it was to easy. But you dont have to disassemble them. You just need to take the forks off and the cap off and drain them and refill them. From what i understand though the stock front spring is set for someone about 115# so new springs will really help. Something i have still been meaning to do. If i were you though i would get you a factory service manaul. A lot has changed since they had screws at the bottom of forks. Kinda shows your age though. Younger kids wouldnt even know what those are. Welcome to the site by the way.

I guess that will work. Love his shop. I dont think its all that much more work though to just pull the forksoff and not mess with your dampner bolt. The lasttime i changed oil i pulled them off and changed my seal while i was at it. But the 30 minute change thing seems like it would be fine.

Use a dedicated fork earl, I like Bel-Ray 7 weight for my viffer. Used 20 weight on my kawasaki twin though. I could feel the difference between 5 weight and 7 weight. AnywHoo-Gud luck and what ever you do, dont get that shit on your clothes, you will smell liket he insides of a sperm-whale. Don't ask how I know this...

Yeah, I would suggest just pulling the forks. Call it the "35 min fork oil change".

Make sure to NOT use the Honda SS grade fluid called out in the manual. Also, do not fall into the trap of thinking a heavier weight will help - it won't. Thicker fluid just makes the bad parts of the VFR forks even worse. I suggest running the Honda Pro Oils 5w fork oil. You can identify it by the black quart bottle. Most Honda shops carry it.
