My 5th gen needs new pads all around and I would like to go OEM but they're pretty expensive (~$40/set). Should I stick to OEM or go with cheaper aftermarket brake pads?

I just bought EBC HH pads. Retail is $45 a set times three but by watching e-bay I got two sets for $15 each and the third for $30.

Not just EBC HH but all sintered pads eat your rotors a lot faster.

I changed from stock pads to HH at the same time I installed stainless brake lines, so part of the stronger braking is from the lines. But the HH pads do seem to have a stronger initial brake force and increased braking power. The increased friction has to come at the expense of something so I suppose the disks will wear more. Whether that will be an issue remains to be seen.

thats true but if you look at the specs on the ones i purchased their sintered copper and brass wich is still softer metal compounds then the rotor. to be honest ive ran these specific type for many years on my atv's and previous bikes with no issues over the rotors.
10 plus years on the polaris atv with original rotors.
plus thing about them is they bite better then the organic pads also.
