This is my first vfr. I was into dsm but was sinking to much money into them so I decided to go a different way in my vehicle choice. I traded a not running tore apart 93 eclipse for my 86 vfr 750. Has 21k miles a few scuffs on the plastics and carbs need rebuilt. I work at a pweformance fuel systems shop so that is nothing for me to do. I'm wanting to keep it mostly stock and use it for fun suer rides through the mountains and back and forth to the city 130 miles daily. What does anyone else think did I get a good deal or screw myself. Also what would be the first things I could do performance wise. I am putting a stage 1 jet kit in it andthinking about the laser exhaust. Any advice on suspension since it is 26 yr old stuff. Thanks to anyone who has any input.

I wouldn't worry so much about engine performance and would focus my efforts on improving the less than stellar suspension. To give you an idea of value that bike based on your description is realistically worth somewhere in the $1500 to $2500 range so you'll have to decide if that was a good deal for yourself. That particular year was made in both 700cc and 750cc models with the 750 model being much more rare since they were subject to import tariff while the much more common 700cc (tariff beater) model was not. Welcome to V4 madness and enjoy the old but new toy.
