I have had my 5th gen for a few years and just love the bike !
However In the next 2 years I do plan on getting something my girlfriend will be more comfortable on the back and I can also carry more stuff.
Does anyone one here have a st and how do you like it compared to your vfr ?

    I've ridden my dads ST1100.
It was fairly nimble considering its size, the bars were really buzzy though.
I would choose a new ST over a VFR for a lot of two up or long distance riding.

I'm interested in responses ,as I was scouting for a ST ( needed a V4 in the shop) first and later went looking for a VFR 5th gen. I switched because I figured it was goofy to have two somewhat large ST machines at once. Love the VFR's engine, sound, handling and rider position, despise the wind above about 60, it's the first bike I have ever owned that really wants to tear you off the saddle over a hundred. YMMV

Riding both right now, having just gotten the '99 5th gen. a year ago. The ST1100 is too much bike for quick trips around town. Still love the bike while mine is set-up for solo riding with the smuggler seat case. Fellows that 2up a lot put a stronger shock on it. Shaft drive is a plus too.

I would be interested to hear impressions as well. An ST1300 is my next bike, but I'm at least 5 years away from wanting to make a change.

Does honda still make the st? Also i realize its a v-4 but its not mounted like the vfr right? I have always thought when im ready for more touring than sport i would also go for that class of bike rather than the gold wing style. But i kinda lean towards the fjr although i would prefer a honda. Would be interesting to hear from someone who has real world experience with both.

Its a good looking bike. Beleve i would search for a low mileage used one though to avoid that high price.

I have a bit of seat time on the ST1300 and I was seriously considering one until my VFR showed up. My impressions are: very nice usable power all over the rev range. It's not a sport bike but it is pretty nimble. Since they are police bikes, ride like a cop and it feels great. They only down side I found was the heat from around the back of the tank. That big V-four sits in your lap and you get some of the heat. It was worse with an aftermarket seat. I would choose and ST for two up touring any day. Just get a back rest for the wife and your set.

I wonder if Honda has cured the infamous high speed wobble.

I spent a whole summer on my friends ST when he moved to Arizona and left his bike with me for the summer. Prior to having it all summer I really wanted one. After I had it all summer I wouldn't buy one. In a word....It's a very capable sport touring bike that is also boring and soul-less. I got to the point where I didn't care if I rode it or not. No character - it's like riding a singer sewing machine, lol. I would stick with a VFR or maybe an FZ1. The 2000 VFR I own now is THE best bike I have ever owned and that's saying a lot. The only thing I would ever trade up to would be a 2007 RWB :)

I have an 1100 and think it is a great 2up bike. Truly a bike you can ride all day and still have fun in the twists. Like the VFR, it only feels heavy until you get it moving.
