honda vf500 interceptor 1984 rebuild anyone care to help answer some questions??

    i bought my 500 in 2010 for $500 it had 10k on it custom pipes, but woundnt run i changed all th fluids and replaced the fuel pump. ran great for the next couple years. over those years i put new rubber ft/rear. rebuilt the shocks seals oil paint. both calipers i rebuilt new chain volora no comment but i bought a new oem chain and all new sprockets which i didnt do the first time! yes my fault lol. and now i have 35k on it i live in fl and chicago. my ????'s are im rebuilding the carbs right now and valve adjustment so if anyone can throw me anything that might help id love to hear about. ill post more picts and more direct ???in the next couple days k thanks and cant wait to ride

    With custom pipes, it might not run right with stock carb jetting.

    If you are doing the valve clearances I used to use a short flat blade screw driver to lever the middle of the Y forked rocker arms against the cam, to take any slop out. Honda has a special tool for this, but my way worked fine. Set the clearance at the tight end of the range, as the tappet face wears quickly after adjustment due to the angle of the face.

    When doing the cams the quickest way is to ignore the timing marks once you have checked one timing setting, note the angle of the cam lobes. Then as you turn the motor over adjust each set of lobes that come to bear at the right angle ! It saves you having to turn the engine over lots of times.

    Only use soft sealant and minimal amounts on the line bore D sections of the cam cover gasket. The rest does NOT require any sealant !!

    well i have yoshimura exhaust pipes it was running great its just idle wasnt there with choke off i had to have some on it always. my jets go like this
