    Hey all,

I just purchased a RoadsterCycle super R/R kit for my 2000. It's not here yet but I am curious about mounting of the regulator. It seems to be larger than the stock unit and I'm not sure how it will fit in the stock location. I know I'll have to drill at least one new hole but will I have to move the regulator? I was thinking it may fit better on it's side with the plugs facing forward but hard to tell yet.

If anyone out there happens to have a picture of theirs installed I would really appreciate seeing it.

I had one of their older kits with the FH12 R/R, and I mounted it sideways with the plugs facing the front of the bike. Have not installed the newer FH20 kit on my other 5th gen yet, waiting for warmer weather.

Well the R/R came in and I started the install. Shipping from RoadsterCycle was super fast! The kit was nicely done too.

I included a pic here with my progress so far in case anyone was interested. Seems a nice fit so far. I have the stator wires finished with some heavy shrink wrap to protect them. Now just the battery connections to mess with and all done!

That's a nice kit, looks better than the replacement Honda OEM along with the quick connectors and wire ends. Which kit did you buy? I think I'm in the market again as my G4 Honda new style 2002 OEM R/R is probably on the fritz after 11years.

Nice installation picture. Did you have to drill new holes and / or relocate the R/R ? It looks HUGE compared to the regular Honda R/R.

    Any onboard voltage readings yet?

    TIA

For grins I'll throw in a sub frame pic
    [IMG]

Looks like mounting it sideways is needed to clear the connectors and drilling a couple holes to mount.

    Thanks for the pic.

I did have to drill two new mounting holes. They are roughly 90* from the stock holes. No readings yet as I have to figure out a good routing for the battery wires. I think I'll take all the wiring out of there and re-route the battery charging wires as well to tidy it all up. I got the super Mosfet kit with the 30amp auto reset breaker. I'll take another pic when I get it all sorted out. I hate the spaghetti wiring look!

Looks like the R1 unit, As long as the first letters dont start with SH, you want it to start with FH which means its a Mosfet unit. Dont ask, its super complicated but comes down to the way the unit "shunts" excess voltage to earth...AnyWhhooo, is'nt messing with electrical stuff kewel? I love soldering shit...

It's an FH020AA unit. I think the latest generation.

All finished. I'll get it out to run if the weekend is decent. Still dealing with snow here... All fits nicely under the fairing which I was a little concerned about. Sorry for the grainy picture.

    I took some readings today.

Idle (roughly 1100 RPM) - 13.7 - 14.0 volts fluctuating with the RPM
Any RPM higher than idle saw a rock steady 14.3 volts.

Mind if I ask how you installed it? The kit he sent me had wiring that was too short, my bike is currently off the road.

For the stator wires I cut the plug off the OEM R\R (R/R side) and soldered the wires from the supplied grey connector onto those. Then I sealed and taped off the original connector for the battery and ran his positive and negative wires from the supplied black (2 pin) connector direct to the battery. The kit I got had enough length for the stator wires and more than enough for the +\-.

Hi 1stVFR, I'll be picking up my 2000 VFR next w-e (finally!) & will order a RoadsterCycle super R/R with the 30amp fuse kit. I'm wondering if the 2-way mounting bracket Roadstercycle sells is the way to go if I don't want to drill mounting holes on the sub-frame. Jack at Roadstercycle didn't get any feedback about mounting his kit...
Thanks for the thread & pictures

I thought about his mounting bracket too but I wasn't sure if there would be enough room under the fairing with the added thickness of it. There may be, but drilling into the stock bracket didn't really bother me and it all fit well.

Good luck with the install when you get the bike. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM or something. Post some pictures of the bike too!
