    Howdy Everyone!

Long time listener, first time caller (I think).

I was installing some new brake pads on my buddy's 2001 VFR. The EBC brake pad part no. is FA261 HH or something to that effect. These same pads also fit that same gen of CBR1100XX. I have used them on my XX.

In attempting to install these pads, long story short, once in the caliper there is NO room for the rotor! Yes, the pistons have been pushed all the way back into caliper.

The part no on the wrapper is in fact FA261. However, between the 1 and the HH is a number 2. The part no reads "FA261 2HH". Is the 2 in there because of a newer brake compound perhaps? OR, does this signify that the package contains two pads?

I have used EBCs for years, and they have always fit correctly. Can anyone provide a link to the proper thickness for Stock Honda brake pads for the VRF? I would like to have something to compare to, as to confirm or disprove my insanity.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks everyone!

I have no issue at all, I still have a new set in my draw. I will try to measure the thickness for you when I get home. In the mean time check your pad for flatness and your rottor to make sure they are flat.

Thanks very much scubalong, but it MAY be unneccesary. In speaking with the parts dude at a Honda dealer, the "2" in the part number I referenced, means that these pads are in fact NOT the right pads for the VFR. In fact, when I Google the part number with a "2" in the search, it returns this as the replacement pads for a GL1800 rear brake!!

    Wow.

HH pads for a Goldwing huh? Who woulda thought it?

Yes the EBC parts listing does confirm that. I guess the wing drivers use a lot of rear brake eh!

No problem, glad you found the solution. Good luck with the replacement and ride safe.
