Took the tank off and squirt some starting fluid in carbs and ran awesome! Wondering if carbs are gravity fed or vaccume fed or pump? When i turn on the petcock, no gas comes out? Please leed me in the right direction...Also this Interceptor only has 4999 miles!

Well I got it to start! No gas issue. Put fresh gas in and started up. Will only stay running on choke. Running on all 4 cylinders. Which is good. Looks like a carb cleaning. Pretty much it. All new fluids as well. Will post pics later of it. It was a great find with very low miles. It was in a temp control warehouse for its life. Thank God! No rust or oxidation anywhere. He did put new tires on it a couple years ago. He only put 80 miles on them.

86 is gravity fed. Petcock has to be connected to vacuum to allow fuel to flow. You can fool it by sucking on the pipe yourself. You should hear fuel filling the float bowls.

Nice find it that mileage is accurate. But a 27 year old bike with less than 5K miles on it I would be very suspicious and look deep for signs of the odo wrapping around at least once. None the less, if it is in good shape, and the motor fails, motors can be rebuilt, Its the other parts that may be getting harder to find now.

You found the right one, the tight one. That 500 is among the smoothest-running 'cycle engines ever, smooth as an electric motor when it's right !!!! Low miles and proppa storage, you're ready to rock-n-roll :party2:

Sure, optimism reigns north of the border ! Since new parts are so scarce or unavailable, no proppa "rebuild" of the motors is possible i don't think. :drinker:
