I am going to check out a 95 model tomorrow. The owner says its in immaculate condition, and the photos lead me to believe he isn't lying, with 28K on the odo, all black, and all serviced up. what things should i look for when I am out there? pricing help maybe as well? he is asking $3K.

Ask if he has any service history. Some of the VFR's had regulator/rectifier issues. Ask him whether if they were replaced. Other than that, just go over the bike, look at the foot pegs/gear shifter to see if you can find any signs for tip over or crash. Check the chain and sprockets. If they need to be replaced, it is a negotiation point..

If you in the budget and that the bike you like I would look closely all around to make sure no visual damaged to the frame "Repair plastic"
Look like the bike is stock with Two Bro. slip on. Not sure about tires and chain condition.......$2500 is my call
I rather pay 3k for a 5th Gen, more parts available if needed. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and hope this help. :thumb:

Repaired & repainted puts max value at $2200 in my book.

Saw the bike today. Didn't make an offer yet. It very clean and the repair work done very nicely. He documented the whole process with photos from when he laid it down going about 30, until completion. He even had the frame and forks mic'ed to make sure no damage was done there. Clean title, wasn't salvaged or anything. Cranks right up, smooth, rides straight and strong, and has an awesome sound! All in all, it's not worth 3k, no. But I was thinking about $2500. Haven't decided yet. Two things worth mentioning here; the current owner loves the VFR's, claims he has owned several over the years, and his garage is immaculate , clean, and organized.

Clean and organized garage, and a knowledgeable owner go a long ways. If the bike really looks good, it might be worth $2500. I wouldn't pay that much if the fairings are not original (although repaired, and repaired well) Honda pieces.

Clean or not that bike is not worth more than $2000 in my opinion. I realize the damage may have not been that bad but it will hurt the resale value if you ever decide to sell it yourself. Anybody who knows anything about VFR's will know right away that the bike is painted a non-factory color since the 4th Gen was only available in red here in the U.S. I think you can find just as nice a bike for the same or less price that has never been wrecked. Just my two cents.

Thanks for all the opinions and advice. I haggled with him a little today and we settled on $2500. I won't be able to pick it up until Friday, so I have that long to back out if I am able to locate a VFR within my budget in my area out to about 2 hours away, maybe farther if the price is right. I won't have any qualms about picking this one up though. The seller, even with a clear Texas title, didn't withhold information about the history of the bike. I love the black color on it, even though it's not original. Honest, knowledgeable and the meticulously clean and organized appearance of his garage are making feel that much easier about it. I will post some pictures on Friday if I pick this one up or another if one crosses my path I like better.

Congrats on the purchase, I was in agreement with the others saying it was around 2200-2500, glad you worked out a deal.
