    Hey Guys!

I have a question about something I'm not sure if it's normal. When I bought my '01 VFR800 5th Gen the drive chain were touching the centre stand. I immediately adjusted the chain slack. Now it's not touching the centre stand anymore, but it runs very close to the centre stand. When I'm talking 'close' I'm talking about 6 to 10mm (0.23 to 0.39inch) away from the centre stand. Do you guys have the same on your bikes?

I will really appreciate your guys help on this!

    Thanks!

That seems awfully close to me. Do you have your chain adjusted to spec? It may be that your chain and sprockets are overly worn. If that is the case, replace them both before something bad happens to you, the bike or both.

Check the bump stop on the center stand. Perhaps it is missing or crushed.

Is the chain adjusted as far back as possible?
    (Being checked on the centre-stand)

It might be stretched to capacity and in need of replacing?

If you can't adjust any further you are well beyond time to replace chain and sprocket . Need to do that asap

I think the center stand stopper is on the muffler. If you have a non-OEM muffler it may be the problem.

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it!

What I did forget to mention is that the bike do have a aftermarket slip-on system. It's a Micron system and it's one of the high rise type.

What I did notice with this setup is that the rubber bump stop, which is on the section of the exhaust pipe by your right footpeg, and the stand does not line up properly...meaning the stand and rubber does not sit square on each other. I don't know if this is causing the stand to 'sit' higher than what it should and what to do to sort it out. I'll have a look this weekend and see.

Thanks again guys for the help!

So I figured out what was wrong with the whole centre stand and chain issue...

I took the exhaust off and the piece of pipe between the canister and headers. Took that piece of pipe to engineering shop and they cut the bracket off, for the rubber stop, and repositioned it...now it's perfect!

    Thanks guys for your help!!!

It sounds very inappropriate. Maybe it has something to do with the new pope.
