I joined this forum a few monthss back and it has helped me along with my projects to no end and I have to complement all of you guys on VFRWorld for your honesty knowledge and sincere approach to each other it really is a great site to come and share your passion with like minded people. As for me my bikes are well looked after and they spend a lot of the time in the garage as the weather here is mostly wet cold and miserable, my latest addition is a 83 VF750F and she needs alot of care and attention, found her in a junk yard and it is coming back together slowly. These old bikes are not common here and parts are nearly always got via e-bay (Canada) maybe I should bring the gang to live there besides loving the people, the weather would suit us just fine. Looking forward to learning more from lots of you guys and some day helping you in return.http://vfrworld.com/photos/data/500/drink.gif
Welcome to the WORLD and excellent posting up pics of the bike(s), or at least a link to the pics along with your inaugural post. As you may have noticed this seems to be a pre-requisite for membership here. As for moving to Canada, sounds like a fantastic idea. LOL Fellow VFR owners are always welcome (can't speak for immigration officials mind you). If you decide to make the journey, maybe stay away from the prairie provinces (I'm certain to catch hell from someone about this). Though the people are just as friendly, winter tends to last a lot longer. Having lived a number of years in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, Manitoba I am not a big fan of winter. Speaking purely from my own experience, Kelowna, BC gets my vote as there are a lot of nice biking roads, a HUGE lake and very nice weather (most of the time). Riding season here lasts from late March or early April to well in to November. Vancouver, BC also has a lot of nice weather but it tends to rain a lot more during the winter. The Eastern provinces, though I have yet to visit them, have some fantastic scenery, and from what I have seen pictures of, the scenery and rolling hills are very reminiscent of Ireland. If you do make the trip across the pond, as it were, Ye must be sure to bring some good Irish ale. LOL If you ever make it out this way, be sure to pop in for a visit and maybe I can offer you a guided tour, and perhaps some Guiness.
Thank you zoom-zoom sounds like the most fantastic place I can imagine, hopefully some day I will look you up, and bring you some good strong ale, regards...
Welcome, I do agree with ZZ, go east or west, in between will just square off your tires and in the winter you won't be going any where unless you plug your bike in
Come on over. The Wet Coast of Canada welcomes you. Our climate, in the Vancouver area, is about as close as you will get to yours. Wet. Fucking rain all the time. And when it isn't raining, there is a heavy drizzle. And when not a heavy drizzle, there is monsoons. JK. Though we do get lots of rain here, we probably have the most abundant suitable riding weather in Canada here in the Fraser Valley to the Georgia Straight. A four or so hour ride gets you to the beautiful Interior or Kelowna area where Zoom-zoom is and yes it is as beautiful as reported. A lot of people over your way don't comprehend the size of this country. It is the world's second largest country covering almost 9.985 million sq km (3.86 million Sq Mi) or slightly larger than Europe. So if you are planning on a day trip from the east coast to the west coast, sorry Bud! Not happening on a bike. Be warned though, it does take a long time to establish our accent properly eh!
Heh Randy I met this guy from Ontario last year while on a ride. I wonder of you know him.................... LOL Seriosuly now. My best friends parents did a motorcycle tour from Victoria to P.E.I. (roughly 6300 km's each way) last year and it took them almost 3 weeks (let's face it they were on holidays). It could be done faster for sure but there and back I think they said they covered 18,000 km's. NO VFR mind you, they did the trip in style on a BMW K1200LT. I asked them why they didn't buy a Goldwing for the trip and they laughed at me said but,....... but,......... "WE'RE GERMAN" they said. LOL My wife's parents live on Vancouver Island (a place called Parksville) and I would have to say that the weather on the island is definitely attractive, though the cost of living is higher and the cost of getting off the island by ferry has gone up significantly in the last few years.
