    Hey everyone!
Just introducing myself to the forum. I'm currently in the process of selling my '03 Honda 919 (Anybody interested!? :) ) to buy a Gen 5 or 6 VFR. I have an appointment to view a gen 6 in a few weeks, a few hundred miles away, and barring any problem, will probably leave with it. I would love to have a gen 5, just like the look better, but they seem to be much harder to find. Is there anything to specifically look for when looking at a gen 6?

    Thanks!!

The 6th gen are solid bikes. Ask the seller if the wiring recall has been done. Also ask for service history.. Good luck!!!

I heard something about recalls! I will definitely ask. It's at a dealer, so I can only hope they've already been done.

I think they got all the gremlins out of the electrical system by the 2006 version. So if it is a 06-09 and there is no recall info it's no big deal. Prior to that, the RR are a weak spot. I also think that was the year the smoothed out the VTEC engagement. I never thought it was a big deal on the 2002 I rode, but some people had problems with it.

If the milage is over 16K - since it is at a dealership - make sure the valve check has been done. If it hasn't, make them do it before picking it up. If they say it has been done, get it in writing. (just peace of mind) If it doesn't have 16K yet, don't worry about it. I know guys that are over 50K without a valve check done. It's expensive and most times no necessary.

Tell you what, if you end up with that 6th gen, we can trade my 5th for it! There are some real nice aspect of the 6th that I appreciate. Pretty much everything but the engine. 5th gen has it beat there IMO.

It's an '04, so I'll be sure to ask about the recall. Good call on the valves too! I'll let you know about the trade, thanks for the offer! haha
