New to VFR's but not new to motorcycles, living in Alabama, but currently on TDY in Texas for a few months. Hello everyone! I don't own a VFR just yet, but I have my eye on a beautiful all black 95 model I will be checking out tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Edit** Sorry admins, didn't see the intro section until after I made this post.

Good luck and welcome. If you can, take a voltmeter along to check the charge rate and ask what, if any mods he has done to the charging system. (if the owner knows his VFR's he will understand) Haven't had to do much work on mine so don't know what else to recommend.

Posted about the bike over in the 3rd and 4th gen section, but will relay the same message here.

Saw the bike today. Didn't make an offer yet. It very clean and the repair work done very nicely. He documented the whole process with photos from when he laid it down going about 30, until completion. He even had the frame and forks mic'ed to make sure no damage was done there. Clean title, wasn't salvaged or anything. Cranks right up, smooth, rides straight and strong, and has an awesome sound! All in all, it's not worth 3k, no. But I was thinking about $2500. Haven't decided yet. Two things worth mentioning here; the current owner loves the VFR's, claims he has owned several over the years, and his garage is immaculate , clean, and organized.

A few things to think about. 30 mph will total most sport bikes that are not brand new. I would like to see the bike with the plastic off. This could be a crash that the owner bought back from the insurance company for the "Salvage price". That way you keep your original "Clean" title. This would be "No Buy" for me.

If the insurance co ever owned it post a crash, there would be a salvage title or rebuilt after it was finished and inspected, I thought.

Well, Randy, a couple people on here have advised me against buying that particular one since it has been down despite the lack of damage to any components other than the plastics. I haven't decided what I want to to yet. It's either make an offer on this one which is in the same town I am currently in, or drive over 2 hours to pick one up from a nearby, if you could call it that, big city. Like I said, I haven't decided yet what I want to do. The black he put on this one though sure is pretty.

So be it. A two hour ride to buy an nice VFR is a small price to pay if you choose not to buy this one. Regardless. Let us know what you do and post up pix when you do. But I dunno.

Mine has been down more times than I can remember but all at a stop. Plastic has been damaged and fixed. If the only damage you have is cracked plastic, normally that can be fixed relatively cheap and easy. But not always so.

    you decide and best wishes.

You are correct, but if it is your bike, all you do is give the insurance co. what the salvage co. will give the insurance co., and the bike or title never changes hands. Hence a free and clear original title. You still have to fix the bike with the remaining insurance money. I did this on the RC51, then my son crashed it again and it was gone for good.

adam- I'm not saying don't take the advise of others, but if you like the bike, just buy it. Sounds like you love it already!
