Does this sound from the stock exhaust go away after break in or is the stock exhaust just meant to make the V4 sound like yard equipment? I was looking into exhaust but I thought I would give the stock pipes a chance. I like the idea of Staintunes but I don't want the bike to be really loud, I want it to be distinctive. There is a video on google video under the search VFR 800 titled vfr loong I think, red bike great exhaust. Anybody know the pipes on that bike?

Not sure what pipe it is, but you can listen to different exhaust clips here:

http://vfrworld.com/forums/modifications/ The thread is the first one on the list titled exhaust sound clips. It might help you decide. I have a D&D onmy 93, and it sounds like a small v-8 in a race car, and to me, it isn't really too much louder. It's loud enough I can tell a difference, but not so loud as to be obnoxious.

Well the staintune exhaust does sound nice.... is that on a 6 gen or earlier? Would there be a big difference with the 2 pipes vs the single from earlier generations? I like the sound...like a V8. I am getting used to the sound of my bike stock. Its just so quiet I'm not used to it.

Not sure if its ona 6th gen or not but it is on a vfr800, so it is at least a 5th gen. Staintunes on a 6th gen sound great as well. One of the guys I ride with who is also a newly joined member here, johnmark101, has them on his and I like the sound of them as well.

Click on my burnout link below. These are kerker pipes and they sound like a V8 when they are going.

Hey chomper.... glad to see you thought the same thing about the stock sound. My friends are torturing me about this sound when we go out riding. Thay ask where the blade is..... I went back to the dealership and they carry Staintunes. Price is a little over $900. Seems like a lot but worth it I think. dlman.... You destroyed that tire!!! KC-10 FE, I know you hate TwoBros.... I am not a big fan of "the stash" myself. Even their other system routes exhaust through only one pipe but I've read your input on "loud pipes" I think and I have second thoughts about reccomending them to people sometimes too..... They do look nice on a CBR though.

I've had D&D, Yosh, 2Bros, Kerker, and the Staintunes on this 04' have the best finish and sound of any bike I've owned. There's no riveted plates, to hide dirt or catch your rag, and they aren't too loud until you mean to be.

2Bros is a pain in the ass, I liked them but had one set rust out quick, less than 6 mo., near the tip and they were lets say less than helpful. They did send me another after they figured out I ran a store and would trash them at any chance if they didn't back their product.

I have a Micron carbon fiber high mount on my 5th generation and it sounds very good and gives the bike a little more oomph.

I put Staintunes on my 06VFR last month. I removed the baffle (no noticable difference with the baffle left in) and have over 500 miles on them now. The sound is continually getting stronger and better (louder and deeper) - just like a little V8. By the end of the summer they should be 'right'. Currently, while cold, the sound is still a little weak (still much better than stock) but as they warm up, the resonance in the helmet is sweet. The pipes look very clean and complement the bike much much better than the stock. Easy to install as well. The only problem was Staintune sent the wrong washer as part of rear footpeg bracket. Easy to get the right size at the hardware store, though. Looking around on the internet you can find the Staintunes around $800 (MSRP is $899). I am a little biased toward Staintune since I have had them on Triumph Super III as well and the sound developed was awesome.

I have an 02 vfr and have been running 2bros vale for over a year. These pipe are loud with the silencers out (but not obnoxious) and sound like a muscle car. They also gave me an extra punch of horsepower and I noticed the difference right away.

I have the Ti Microns on mine. I wouldn't want any other pipe.

One thing for sure is ANY system will sound better than what you have. The TBR stash seems a little gimicky and I've heard unimpressed reviews, but never seen them myself.

I can't say positively what they guy in the vid has, but that's what my microns sound like.
    Just go get a system!!!
