my buddy just bought an 86 vfr750 last week. i rode it for about 40 mles. the front rotors are terribly warped. the whole front shakes when braking. the engine runs great. the shifts are smooth. the clutch is soft. on its way out imo. the front is very springy. im coming off an r1 so im not sure if that is normal for this bike. it has a front fork brace. the first buy for the bike will be rotors. im unfamiliar with these bikes. are there any common problems with these bikes? thanks.

You have to remember you are riding state of the art technology from..........1986. If your coming off an R1 the only we to make it feel more to what your used to is to replace the front end and wheels. You got a pic of this beast?

here she is. 087.jpg front rotors are completely warped. almost went into a full on tank slapper on the ride back from picking her up. but the engine is good. fueling is great. suspension is soft. but i still cant get over how light this bike is. a great ride. other than the brakes.

Front end wobbles are unusual on this bike, so probably u need to service or replace steering head bearings, which are mostly shot after about 30,000 miles.

It has a a fork brace. I rode her for roughly 20 miles before I got comfortable with her. 95% highway. I left the bars for a second on the freeway to adjust/relax and she started to shake wicked. Not a normal "oops". I did nothing to induce this. I let go and before I could react I reacted by taking full control and wondering what could be wrong with this bike. Scared the crap out of me. Are there steering dampers for vfr750's.
