    I'm a new 2001 VFR800fi owner, having come off (literally and figuratively) a 2001 ZX12R.

Well I topped up my 21 litre/4.6 gal tank yesterday with 17.5 litres/3.9 gal before going on a ride. With that 17.5 litres/3.9 gal I had done 322 km/201 miles That's 18 km/11.25 miles per litre.

In that 322 km, I had done a 150 km ride in which I'd given it the beans and commuted to work and back for the rest of the time.

When you consider I still had 3.5 litres left, I had a theoretical tank range of 385 km.

    WOW!

I recently bought a cherry 2000 VFR 800 with 10k miles, after replacing the tires and a couple other bits, took it for a maiden voyage, 2 up (wife) through twists in northern cal, ripping it at avg 8000-9k rpms, rode 120 miles and still had half a tank of gas. on my previous bike (duc hypermotard) would have done the same ride solo, and would have had to limp it home if I didnt re-fill. the hyper was modded a bit and ran rich, also only 3.5 gal tank.

Pretty happy with the mileage on the VFR, it's slower and heavier than my previous bikes, but once you get rolling, it feels light enough and is planted in heavy wind, overall, happy with it.

Couldn't agree with you more. I've just hit reserve on the vfr today as it happens and have done 380 km, quite impressive.

Yup, the VFR's if not driven hard are 'eco' friendly vehicles :)
