First of I just purchased a used rwb 07 vfr with 1900 miles. Bike was bone stock and in perfect condition. Shortly after I realized why so many people like aftermarket exhausts!! This bike was way too quiet in stock form, so after much research decided on an fmf pipe. Also added a sargent seat ,puig double bubble screen , luggage bag which mounts on the seat, hid's and now waiting on helibars.
Now to my question, when I got the bike every. NOw and then I could pull the wheel just on pure acceleration( not tring too) I figured when I got the pipe that it would happen mOre often because of the newly found power but that was not the case. I can't figure out what that perfect condition is when it pulls the wheel?
Also considering a PC v ,will it pull the wheel more consistantl with it?
Not looking to do wheelies all the time just want to know why it dosnt do it all the time.

    Thanks in advance

If you put on a 64 tooth in the rear you will be wheelie all day long....

If you're not really familiar with doing wheelies on dirt bikes, I don't recommend that you learn on your VFR. The bike is heavy and not really geared for pulling the front wheel off the ground. It will do it and in the hands of the right person it does them well but there are better bikes for that. (disclaimer)

    However, if you're really determined,,,,,
In my experience, you need to fan the clutch on the VFR to get the front up quick to the balance point at a relatively low speed which is necessary to do a decent wheelie.

In this pic, I'm at or very near the balance point on my 3rd gen. I pulled it up quick by fanning the clutch while gently pulling back on the bars. Once up you slowly accelerate and shift up through the gears. It's easier if you drop a tooth on your front sprocket as this makes the gearing more appropriate for stunting. I prefer not to as it screws up your speedo and messes with fuel economy and top end.

I'm not realy interested in doing stand up wheelies just want to get the wheel off the ground on a consistant basis by simply acceleration( not feathering the clutch or getting off than on the gas)

If you're not interested in feathering the clutch...roll on up to about 7 or 8K rpms, release the throttle and then crack it back on right away. That oughta do it.

I don't have the VTEC so not sure if that comes into play (which is why I'd recommend being above your VTEC engagement), but I'm pushing 250# and can pull the wheel all day long if I wanted to doing as above.

Remember, she's a heavy girl regardless of your weight. The front suspension is not really up to snuff for this on a continuous basis. Be gentle to her.
