8 spoke rim came dented :(

How bad is that? Fixable? Seller assured me it was not dented

I'm sure someone will come by and start a tirade on the seller as to how you should go about pouring honey on him and staking him to an anthill, should you choose to go that route......some people have energy to burn.

 

Can't afford to ship the rim to Cali, I live in Canada. Hopefully this is not too expensive...

 

Thanks, found somewhere local just waiting on a quote and a reply from the seller. Might end up being my first claim under a shipments insurance.

 

I would think that could be fixed fairly easily locally there where you live or close to. That doesn't look like it is cracked or creased. I have had a similar dent in mine for several years now, after the first tire change I think. I am on my sixth set now if I recall correctly. I have never noticed any vibrations or anything on mine. I will get it fixed when I put new powder coat on my wheels hopefully sometime soon.

 

Ah ok. Wondering how it would even get dented since it is on the inner part of the rim. Calling the shipping company in the morning to see what they say.

 

They are going to deny responsibility. It looks like it was dropped on the hard ground while there was not tire on it. Check out the packaging it came with for signs of compression or look for fresh scrapes in the metal to support your claim. If there is no evidence to suggest it was dropped in transit, I don't think you are going to have much luck.

 

The box was pretty f'kd up on one side, the rest of it looks ok. We shall see what they say.

 

Look for crushing on the inside and outside of that packaging that is very consistent with where that part of the rim would be. This all goes to support your claim with them. Who shipped it? BTW, where in Canada are you anyways?

Looking at the package, they might blame the 'crushing' on the shipper. The way he shipped it was he took a much larger box, and folded some of it in then taped it up so the rim fit snug.

Hopefully they reply soon otherwise I have to grab a calling card :biggrin:

The seller told me (just now) that the mechanic that took the tire off it pointed the dent out to him. So I guess it won't be a claim with shipping companies, but a possible paypal dispute.

I have heard that ants are especially fond of orange blossom honey...........Somebody told a lie on Ebay and misrepresented the condtion of an item??????....utterly shocking!

 

It was not on eBay, but hopefully paypal has no issue with me filing a dispute if the guy does not want to pay.

That really sucks. Especially since he now admits to knowing about the dent. The fact that he now admitted that it was dented is a bit of a surprise though. Good luck getting something back from him. Bastard!

 

Why dispute with paypal? Since the seller agreed that there was a dent, he should refund/fix the wheel..
