Hey all. Been a while since I've posted.

I've been considering selling my 86 VF500. It has 20k miles and is original except for Yoshimura mufflers. Runs beautifully, gets ridden every weekend and needs nothing. Any ideas what a fair asking price in Southern California would be?

Living in Socal myself, and owning one of these in roughly the same shape, I couldn't see it bringing more than 1500. I'd say post it on craigslist for like 16-17 and see if you get any takers, but don't be surprised if you get around 13-14 for it.

Where in socal, might I ask? I'm around the Huntington Beach area myself, and its always good to see other miniceptor lovers. I've yet to see another one rolling around these parts :)

$1300-1600 huh? Guess I did pay too much for it....

I'm in Ventura County. They are rare around here too...except in Pops' garage (mine's on the left).
Drop me a line if you're ever in the area.

New user here. Just paid 500 for a pair of 1985 500's that both run. I might have gotten the sweetest deal of my life. All the ones i've come across have been sub 1k. Just my 2 cents. I am also in socal, and I also am in Huntington Beach.

wow, damn why do I never see you guys in the area? We should set up a cruise one of these days. Exclusive vf500 cruise :p Muahahahaha

I got mine "running", registered, and fairly clean (a few scrapes and scuff here and there, small dent in the tank and some peeling paint on it.) for $300. I thought it was a steal! She runs great though now, and I even picked up a spare motor for 40 bucks, just in case :)

I'd be more than happy to. I've built up an 85 vf500 from a bare frame, so I can hopefully help you with what you need. email me and we can work something out :)

I wouldn't let it go below $1500 if it's in the shape you say and it looks good(pic). How many bikes this old and neat are a true turn key bike? Most need some kind of work for them to be decent machines whether mechanically or looks wise. It's hard to find a NICE old bike in super condition. So they will bring a little more, though you may have to wait longer to find a buyer. May be.? Plus yours is the 86 with all the updates.

    Hey mykarz and ddavidson,
I'll put out my email too, mattmendez48@yahoo.com. I also have a cafe bike, so if we need to swap questions or tools or something, we should communicate that.

I have an 84 (2k miles) and an 85 (15k miles), and, as luck would have it, I work in the Huntington Beach area. Fotos of both are all over this forum and VFRD. Bike night one day soon near the Pier, Gentlemen?

Hell yeah, I'm down. But will have to wait until I turn one of my 500's into a 750. I'm a little too big for my pair of miniceptors.

Nice! You're lucky, bro. I have an 1985 Vf500, but getting ready to tear her down next weekend and try and repair the ticking sound she's started making over the past month. I'm in desperate need of someone who might be parting out one of these, lemme know if you've seen anything out there...
