    Hi
Can an exact date of manufacturing, ie.. day and month be determined.
We know the year..1988, but would like an exact "birthday" if possible.

I think you can get the month and year. I have never seen a date on the bike unless it is a high end car..

    Hi
    Month would be good.
I have a friend who will be bringing his 88 VFR750 over to the States from the UK.
He is coming over to work for a few years, I think he needs to know the date to register it as a classic, as it needs to be 25 years old, or something like that.
Any help will be most welcome

    Roger

I think the MM/YY should be on the frame.. Look on the sticker which has the VIN#. I will check mine in couple hours and will let you know exactly where it is..

Sometimes here in the states they just go by the reg. of the previous state licensed so I dont know really how an out of US reg. would work. I dont beleive the month is on the reg. The paperwork just asks Year, Make, model. I would say to your friend to look up the state where he will be living and find out what their law is that classifies the bike as a classic vehicle. If they only go by years the I beleive the bike qualifies now. If he is the original owner, and the DMV goes by months, and he has bought this bike in the first 2-3 months of 1988 I would bring the bill of sale. I guess another way is to have the home nation/state put a month on the reg. (if applicable) then there can be no doubt. Hope this helps.

be weary of "classic" plates, however. In most states, you have to be on your way to or from a car show. And that is all you are supposed to use them for, not out for just cruising around.

Each state will have it's own regulations and definitions of "classic" or "antique" . Many states will have thier entire Motorvehicle Codes published online. Find the individual state and drill down. Some states have free phone service.

UK has or used to have specific definitions of older bikes. Here, it's a free for all and between any two old bike fanciers. You will have no less than three defining opinions and more as the day progresses.

    Day of manufacture? Probably not..
