So i just bought my 4th gen because the 3rd gen I was waiting on was taking to long and I wanted to ride. low and behold i get the bike and then snowstorm nemo, hits now the 3rd gen I was waiting on is done and ready. I want to just tell they guy sorry I got another bike because you took to long, but now I'm like ... I could afford it and I really like the VFR ... Why not.

How many of you have at least 2 different bikes, how many of you have at least 2 different VFR's, and why do you have at least 2 bikes.

I have 2 bikes and thinking about getting a third one. I only have one VFR though. I like to have different bikes for different types of riding.

See that makes sense to me have the vfr for a nice commuting bike, an r6 or something for the track, that makes sense to me I can't really see getting another vfr because I'm not gaining anything extra by doing that, unless someone can tell me otherwise.

You are sick in the head just like me and many others. I have two Viffers in the stable which explains why my car gets parked in the driveway instead of the garage. I've got a 6th Gen Anniversary Edition (2007) and a 3rd Gen (1993) and I like them each in their own way. You only live once so be a little selfish and make yourself happy if you can afford to. BTW I would have one or two more motorcycles if my wife hadn't already threatened me with great physical harm over the matter. It sucks being the rooster living in the hen-house.

I have two, the 5th gen VFR for when I want to go ride and have fun, and a VTX 1300 with windshield and bags for riding 2-up or going on a weekend trip with the wife. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to keep a couple of bikes in the garage - I'd do more if I could afford it.

again that makes sense i just dont think the differences between the 3rd and 4th gen are large enough to make it feel like a totally different animal, am i wrong in that thinking?

I think you are correct, I would keep the 3rd gen just because it is the prettier of the two and look for something different that allows you to explore a different genre of riding. Adventure touring, track days, enduro, motocross, hill climb, whatever, just get out there and blaze a trail of memories.

I have a few bikes for the same reasons already stated. Oh and it makes me smile. I sometimes find myself staring at my VFR in admiration when I park it after work. I own them because I can and Im lucky to have a wife that accepted me as I am almost 30 years ago.

I see the VFR mainly as a touring/commuting bike. If I want to go for a weekend back road riding, VFR fits the bill, but I want a sport bike to feel the adrenaline. So, you can answer your question better. Is there another type of bike you like to own?

I dont know i'm still a young rider (not much time on the saddle) I got the vfr for touring and commuting, because my new job has the potential to take me all over the state if I so choose, and my crown victoria really like the taste of petrol. I think it would be a lot of fun to do track day or more spirited riding

I actually bought the 4th gen, because parts are seem to be more plentiful and a few threads here seem to prefer them for this reason. Also the 3rd gen has twice the mileage and is a Frankenstein with the 4th gen tank, and missing some plastic.

As always you guys are full of solid advice.

Because there are so many different cool bikes out there that one just isn't enough.

Holy crap that paint scheme is the SHAT. sound advice at the end one just isnt enough.

I'm going to ponder it, I like the idea because if one is ever in the shop or I want to do something to it, I have another one to ride. If I want to turn one into a streetfighter I could afford to lose that bike for how ever long it takes, etc. I love the vfr, and the V4, I wish I could get my hands on a vfr750r or even the 400r. But until then I'm going to think about it. still need to find room to park the one I just got.

Stosh used to fly planes until he parked that puppy in the top photo! He quit then,

I would love to get a Goldwing for touring around if I could ever get the wife to come with me, but we have discussed this, and that type of vacation is about as likely as the two of us spending a weekend in the hooker district of Downtown East side of Vancouver. SO I will settle for my present VFR until it dies, or I die. Whichever comes first. An enduro type bike would be kinda neat, but as per previous statement, I think my day of reckoning would come sooner than later.

If can have only one bike then the VFR is probably the best as long as you like sport and touring. That is the bike's mission (or was).

Personally, I like to have the VFR and a sportier bike because it suits my riding habits. I do more sport riding than commuting or touring. I do commute a lot but I put more miles sport riding than any other kind of riding.

I don't need two bikes. But it sure as hell is nice to have! The bitching I get from the wife never ends though. You know what I tell her? "I dont give a shit. I want it, I can afford it, so I'm going to get it." I already gave her a nice car and a nice house. So STFU about my two motorcycles!
