Ok guys so I need some advice, the bike I posted on oh so long ago is still under the knife, the part came in about 2 weeks ago but still havent heard anything yet, i think I annoyed my guy with all my questions. So i have still been looking around, and found another bike a 1996 in New Jersey (about 2 hours away in Burlington County), the guys is asking 2200 i dont really have the ability to spend that much but the bike has been listed for 4 months,

I'm going to give you guys the details and please tell me if you think I should wait for my bike or go look at this bike
    Original Bike
1992 bike black with a 1994 White tank
    45K miles
    CA model
i have been waiting for 2 months for the chock valve (Valve Set, Starter) to be replaced
    asking 1000

    new bike
    1996 Red
    Tinted windscreen
    Two brothers exhaust
    Frame sliders
    Heated hand grips
    HID head lights.
    27k miles
    asking 2200 OBO

    my thoughts are this
1996 is Gen 4 more parts available this will be my second season (first full length one) so I would like to fix it if i lay it down, the cost is higher on the 96, I love the 8 spoke design on the 92, my "buddy" is working on the 92 so i feel that it would be done right, his title is PA so easy to get transferred, the 96 has a NJ title (I have no idea how to get it transferred) the 96 has a list of mods that are on my to do list when I get a bike, so I'm really torn. any advice appreciated, thank you in advance

I'd say the first thing you need to do is decide the max you are willing to spend. Go to the seller and be completely honest. Talk to the guy, I mean really have a conversation. If he doesn't need the money no amount of haggling will help you, he'll just hold onto the bike. When I sold my 92 Nighthawk, I passed on several offers until I found someone that was enthusiastic and wanted my bike for what it was. I knew the kid wouldn't rag it out and trash it. VFR owners tend to lean this way too I believe.

Jesus that is a clean bike. And that sound, better than a moaning woman.

Ok guys time to close the thread, its done, I bought the bike the second one that you can see the pictures and video's of. I Picked it up last night around 7:00 pm and rode it home from NJ to my girlfriends house outside West Chester PA. took about 2 hours to get home because we kept getting lost, and I have to say, getting lost on a Bike at night can be beautiful. the way we went home was we crossed the Betsy Ross Bridge, which through us through Center City Philadelphia (including the not so nice areas), and I have to say boat house row at Night is BEAUTIFUL, and cruising through town with the city skyline was also very calming.

That said I really really really really really love the bike. I put close to 100 miles on it last night in 20F temps and it really wasn't bad at all other then I need a better helmet and my boots are not wind proof, but I was totally fine after 2 hours, also heated hand grips are the best thing EVER. there are a couple things that i learned need some attention on the bike, the turn signal indicator doesn't always flash when i turn on the left hand turn signal, and I really need to press the toggle switch hard to make the lights come on. I think these problems are connected. so when I get it back to my house and have some time to look at it I think i just need to crack that open and clean some contacts, I'm going to post this on the proper forum as well. the guy before me did a lot of nice things, that made it worth the few hundred extra that I paid. sprocket and chain look new, all the brake lines have been upgraded to braided steel, the heated hand grips, HID head lights (HOLY FLIPPING HECK those are bright) I feel bad for people in front of me. Tires look like they have a good season or half a season left on them Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires, smoked wind screen, two brothers exhaust which sounds AWESOME, and a few other things.

Wow I rambled, all this is saying is I got the bike, you guys have been most helpful thank you.

Super news and a good read as well.

Congratulations on the new steed! I can't believe that you are riding. Isn't the weather crap down there right now?

Congrats. You got a good deal on the bike. I hope that a simple cleaning of the contacts will fix the turn signal/light switch issue. Post some pics.
