I thought they did now that they had actual "traction control", and no longer needed the 'poor man's traction control'. But I could be totally wrong.

That is correct. Although I've yet to see the hp and torque chart for all 6 gears like the ones for '10.

Didn't change it; it was never related to the traction control. Just smoothed out the transition from the low torque range to the high torque range.

Have you looked at the hp charts for a 2010?? I hardly call that 'smoothing out the transition'. If you're right, why didn't they 'smooth out the transition' in every gear? That's just killing the power in the first two gears until you get some speed so you're less likely to spin the tire.

Honda claims to have increased low end torque for 2012, but their claim of increased fuel range adds up to about 4 miles per tank full, so who knows...i haven't ridden a 2012....this bike should have had a switchable power mode from the beginning, but i don't think Honda has ever offered that on any bike. i guess they wanted the bike to be a little more suitable for the Sport Touring riders and for 2 up ....thankfully, the Z-Bomb fixes everything for us guys who ever chained their Elsinore to the bicycle rack in front of our school !!!

Europe might be a different story. UK VFR1200 gets a ECU reflash. I have heard of no such thing available from USA dealer service. The 1st and 2nd power dips being gone in USA '12 models has been widely reported. I doubt it's just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Plus what's 2012 model is often different between US and EU anyhow.

Not quite sure what to make of all that, since the Akro chart doesn't specify a model year. Although it would lead one to believe that the Akro slip-on cures all the VFR fueling woes. I'm skeptical to say the least.

the akro doesn't really change the curve at all, just adds HP pretty evenly to the stock curve across the rpm range.doesn't add much torque at all.....the 1st/2nd issue is a result of a timing retard in those 2 gears, not fueling..

I test rode it. Same no-power in the 2012 but not that instant power gain. -> Smoother transition. In other than 1st and 2nd gear there has never been something to be smoothed out because there is no such extreme restriction.
The traction control thingy is only some wild speculation on the internet without any reason.

That Bazzaz chart is my bike. I don't know if the 2012 is better than the 2010, but if you're interested in the bike, just get one, and order the Z-Bomb ...it makes the bike sooooo nice to ride!!! :)
