hello, I am currently restoring a 1985 vf500 and while working a the carb i saw that i was missing the fuel joint set (part# 16027mj8004) and after trying to order it online i came to find out that honda has discontinued this part and have come to a dead end. Any advise on where i might be able to find this part will be greatly appreciated.

Eeek, that might be tough. Complete carb racks are expensive so that might not be the best option. Do you need the vent joints or the ones that deliver the fuel itself? I might have some rolling around in the box-o-spare-carb-parts.

Thanks for the response! Its the main fuel joint that joins the two sets of carbs below the float bowl giving fuel to carbs 3 and 4. Ya i was trying to avoid buying a complete carb rack just for one little tube but at this point i have no clue were else i can find one. it is part #7 if you have an extra one it would be awesome if i could buy it off you

Have you tried part number 16027-KE7-013? I show it as superceeding the one you mention above. I also show that it is still available.

I have a friend that runs a custom shop here in Phoenix and he was willing to make a set of tubes for my carb to replace the plastic ones that it had on it. He apparently does this quite often and only needed the original in hand to measure and create a replacement for it. His recommendation was to use fabricate the tubing out of copper and fitting it with the standard o-rings, which would have cost me about the same as if I'd ordered them directly from Honda and I wouldn't have had to worry about the age factor anymore.

As it was, another friend had a buddy that just happened to have a new one in stock with several layers of dust on the bag, so I didn't have to worry about it anymore. I will say that if I ever have a reason to pull my carbs for a repair again, I'll be having all four tubes replaced with copper lines custom fabricated at my buddy's shop.

If I were you, I'd contact a local custom bike shop (doesn't matter if they do sport bikes or not) and ask them if they'd be able to make you some tubes from the broken ones you have. If you have no luck, I can give you his info and you can do the deal via snail mail. Might take a while longer, but at least you'll have a running bike without the cost of a full carb set.
